So is everyone enjoying the summer olympics? I know I am! :) I'm so happy, I've seen all of my favorites already. Womens beach volleyball with my fav team(only because I reconize them) Misty May and Kerri Walsh(sp?), womens gymnastics, synchronized diving, and swimming. Pretty rocking awesome. I always miss the equestrian events, every year. No idea why. :( But this year someone from the barn is taping, so we're going to try and get together to watch them one night.
I really like the men's gymnastics, and the women's. My sister was a gymnast and I grew up watching her, so it brings back a lot of memories for me. Plus, those athletes rock! I also like the swimming and diving.
I missed the equestrian events also. I always do! I'm going to have to watch them on the internet.
I'm sure you probably know how the eventing went, but if you don't want to hear details, skip this post!
The eventing was great! It's such a shame that William Fox-Pitt/Parkmore Ed and Mary King/Call Again Cavalier didn't do as well individually as us Brits were hoping, but Tina Cook stunned us all! We're so proud of her - she and Miners Frolic only just got on the team (I think she was a sub for someone else) and went on to get an individual bronze! The team bronze as well - fantastic
I was watching the individual showjumping, and when Tina went double clear, and then the people after her kept getting penalties ... my best friend and I were cheering every time a pole came down. We were willing Marius to take out the last one but he didn't.
Hinrich Romeike was the German rider who got the individual gold with Marius. He's not actually a full-time rider - his main job is as a dentist. So the lolfactor makes me forgive him slightly for pushing Tina down to bronze.
We have to wait ages for the dressage and showjumping competitions now, which sucks. A lot of the talk has turned to who we'll see on the team in 2012 - Mary King will probably ride Imperial Cavalier instead of Cavvy, and William Fox-Pitt might use Parkmore Ed again if he's still going strong, but we absolutely want to see Tina Cook and Miners Frolic!
I have missed most of the olympics so far because of "unfortantly" having a life! Ha ha. But last night I finally got to catch some equestrian events & synchronized diving ~ holy cow! Those girls have got it going on w/ those dives! No way in heck could I do that many spins in the air, then hit the water & be able to think clearly enough to swim out of the water then! LOL.
Since I love to kayak, I really enjoyed watching the kayaking on the Olympics, but there wasn't very much of it! The equestrian is by far my very favorite, but unfortunately NBC does not seem to be showing any of it.
Got to see some of the Equestrian, it was so exciting. Even though Team USA did not do well, I loved it. The look on Gina Miles' face when she finished the XC course was priceless and she got silver for her first Olympics, how awesome is that? She put all the veteran's to shame.
I have mixed feelings about Karen O'Connor, as much as I admire her I really have to wonder if she was ready for this so soon after losing Teddy. I don't want to second guess her decision but it does make me wonder if it compromised her focus.
Mens Swimming........need I say more? Ok, how about Michael Phelps? Get it? Got it? Good! LOL...............he is just so dang cute.
I like gymnastics as well and I think Team USA did great, I was so proud of them, for not giving up and really working as a team. I seriously do not think some of those Chinese gymnasts met the age requirement.
Beach vollyball, love it! One of my favorite sports, I used to be a beach vollyball nut!
I've been watching the olympics religiously since day one lol, my favorite event is swimming (GO MICHAEL PHELPS!!! No wonder he swims, he so HOT! 8) ) and I watched dressage yesterday but missed everything else. I've been watching gymnastics too, I love Shawn Johnson and the whole men's team! Wooo go U.S.! haha
