Photography book advice?

Hey all you professional photographers out there! :) (or just people who like to take pictures...)

My brother asked for a book on photography for Christmas and I have NO IDEA what to get! He got a really nice SLR camera about a year ago and he's really into learning all about light composition, technique, etc. He loves the scientific nitty gritty stuff too. But wants something with lots of pictures and how-tos.

Any suggestions on some good books? Or even some accessories that would be fun to give?

Hmmmm....I'd probably cross-reference and search somewhere like Amazon....or Best Buy....
Sounds to me like he wants a technical book...without the technicals..

Upnover...well, depending on how much money you have, a lens is always one of my favourite gifts for my camera.

If he likes to do interesting stuff a Lensbaby is a great, and fun gift to fool around with. It isn't too expensive, either.

Here ya go:

This series usually breaks things down an explains them in a 'Speaka da English' kind of way. The price is right. It should get a huge grin when he opens it.
If you need to spend more $$$, I'd combine this with one of those sets from Lensbaby. (I forwarded that site to a friend. The entire concept looks SO COOL!)

If you go to your local bookstore you will find hundreds of options there. Just go out and see whats there, you will find one you like.

Ooh, that lensbaby thing looks cool! Definitely going to look into that! I like the idea of getting that along with a book. I would LOVE to give my brother (aka genius boy) anything that's "for dummies". But any other book suggestions will be looked into! Thanks for the ideas!
