    Presidential Address of Explosive Packages

Wasn't sure if anyone else was watching this.
Last night two packages were found originating from Yemen heading to some sort of Jewish place of worship in Chicago. They were found in Dubai and East Midlands Airport in the UK.
Apparently they were set up to go off in a terrorist attack.

The address is going on right now so I'll try and add video when it's up. They're saying it's an ongoing investigation and right now there isn't a whole lot that they seem to know.

    Scary stuff...

I was following it a bit on the CNN monitor at work. Also heard a passenger jet from UAE had packages from Yemen so they had fighter jets escort it down in to JFK.

Very scary...and I'm heading to France tomorrow so am a bit nervous though I'm sure all will be fine.

    Yeah, I heard that.
I don't have another international flight for a few months, but it makes it extra scary...
I wonder if there will be any extra security on your flight. According to this address there has been no change in the threat level, but they said they are keeping an eye out for other packages from Yemen (obviously)...

I suspect security will be a more thorough...at least I hope it is even though we're leaving the US.

Once about 5 years back I was on a flight back from Frankfurt and before we took off some tall guy with wild hair was ranting and raving about something (in German). They got him calmed down and gave him a seat in the back of the plane. Then about 30 mins before we landed he was a few rows behind me ranting and raving again. A passenger a few rows ahead immediately got up and went back to where the flight attendants were trying to calm him down.

This passenger was very very fit. So they got crazy dude calmed down and fit guy went back to his seat. Then 5 minutes later crazy dude started up again and fit guy went back to him...and that's when I saw his badge. He was an air marshall.

They ended up taking crazy dude off the plane in handcuffs. I asked one of the attendants what was up and he mumbled something about the guy not liking where he was seated on the plane. Yeah...uh huh.

Gah. I've been lucky, I've never had anything like that happen. I normally just get picked for every random screening so apparently I look pretty suspicious. It must be the sweats. I would probably be turned off towards flying for awhile if that happened...
