Psychology Experiment

For psychology I have to do an experiment as my final project so I've decided to do one on Lucid Dreaming.

Lucid dreaming is basically when you are aware you are dreaming and can control your dream.

What I'm looking at is if you can "train" yourself to lucid dream. Now to the reason I posted this on here is that I need volunteers to take part in the experiment along with me. I'm thinking 10 other people max.

So here's what you need to do:

1) Write an "A" on the palm of your hand - the "A" stands for awake
2) Throughout the day, look at the palm of your hand whenever you think about it - this is supposed to act as a reality check. Supposedly, as this becomes habit you will check your palm for the "A" within your dream and then realize you're dreaming. And then the fun ensues as you frolic throughout your dream world
3) When you wake up: As soon as you wake up and open your eyes, focus on something (I.e. An alarm clock -- this is supposed to help you remember your dream), second write down whether or not you had a dream, if it was lucid and any details.
4) Post on here everyday (if possible) whether or not you haddock a lucid dream (you don't have to post what it was about, that's just for yourself to help you remember whether or not you actually had a lucid dream, but you can post it if you'd like).

For seven days, write the A on your hand, check it throughout the day, and post whether or not your dream was lucid.

Tip: Don't listen to music while sleeping/to wake up, it can cause you to lose your grasp on the fact it was a dream. If you do listen to music, please post and say you did so.

So, anyone interested?

Oooh. Lucid dreaming is so neat. The most I've ever done is suddenly stop in the middle of a dream and realize that the situation is completely ridiculous and switch it to something else. Weird, weird sensation to realize in the middle of a dream that you are dreaming..

I want to try this. I'll just have to remember to write an A on my hand.

I have had one lucid dream in my life which was my freshman summer (I'm going into my junior summer now), and I could not for the life of me figure out how to do it again. I'd love to take part.

I've had a couple lucid dreams recently. It is the most strange feeling in the world, but I LOVE it. I'll be sleeping/dreaming, and I just suddenly become aware of my body. I can feel it heavy as a boulder, weighing me down. It's like I weigh 1,000 pounds and rendered immobile. If I move, the lucid feeling vanishes and I wake up. If I lay still, I'm aware of my surroundings, but I'm also dreaming. The noises I hear around me are fuzzy, almost incoherent. My eyes are closed, but I can see everything around me. But all the while, I'm still dreaming. At that point I can control my dreams. I usually let them run their course, until something happens I don't like. Then I rewind and pick out a different action or event. This is lucid dreaming, correct? Or am I just a freak?

So last night I dreamed I drew the A on my hand and saw another person with an A on their hand (Who ended up being you, Poseidon) and I approached you and asked what it was for. THen the scene switched and I wasn't with Poseidon anymore, I was on the beach with my horse Selena. I dreamed it like a flashback of be "catching" her from the water, like she was a water horse (I imagined her melting and turning into water in the ocean and on land turning into a horse. Then Poseidon was back and she had a grey horse she was riding on the beach and she started telling me about how she caught the horse from the water just like I caught Selena from it. I went to look at my hand and there was no A, then I woke up.... Not sure what all that was about? LOL But the water horse thing I think I got from the book The Scorpio Races, which I hav been re-reading for like the fifth time.

I drew the A on my hand today and have been looking at it. Guess we'll see!

Lmao! That's awesome! I've been in other HoFo members' dreams before, but they're people I talk to completely outside of the forum. I'm slowly working my way into the dreams of random strangers on the internet. Muahaha.

Oh goodness I forgot to post this morning. LOL

Well the dream content itself was not lucid...The content was a little uncomfortable but I distinctly remember thinking about the "A" on my hand again, but I didn't really recognize the fact that I was sleeping.

A is still on my hand in pink gel pen, all colored in....I've been looking at it all day so maybe tonight it will go better.
