Questions About Belly Button Peircings

So I'm REALLY wanting to peirce my belly button, but I don't know any thing about it. I've been watching youtube vids and googling.

So where is the best place to get it done? My guess would a reputable tattoo place, correct?

Does it hurt a lot?

How long does it take to fully heal?

How much does it cost on average to get it done?

How hard is aftercare?

How long till you can change out the jewelry?

I'm overweight would that be a problem?

What would happen if I lost a lot of weight?

That's all the questions I can think of right now. If there is any thing that I should know about out side of my questions please let me know.

I would NOT do it myself. I got mine done at a reputable tatto and piercing place.

Does it hurt a lot?
It hurt more to get my cartilage pierced, it does have quite a pinch but it wasn't horrible. Have someone hold your hand.

How long does it take to fully heal?
I think it took 6 months, just make sure you clean it just as your supposed to. They told me to use dial antibacterial hand soap instead of the cleaner as that has caused infections. Mine healed great.

How much does it cost on average to get it done?
Mine cost $21.99 but there are some places that charge up to $50+

How hard is aftercare?
Dial antibacterial hand soap like 2twice a day or something, wasn't horrible.

How long till you can change out the jewelry?
After its healed, like 6 months I think, could be less

I'm overweight would that be a problem?
Nope, my sister got hers done and she is a bigger girl and she didn't have a broblem with it.

What would happen if I lost a lot of weight?
That shouldn't be a problem either, some people leave their belly button rings in when they are pregnant.

Hope that helped :)

Yearling
My experience with it was I didn't find it sore at all just a wee nip, however, how sore it is entirely depends on the person.
With every piercing i've ever had i've been told nothing works better at cleaning than salt water (even swished it about in my mouth for the piercings I have in there)
Healing process depends mostly on you, I.e cleaning, fiddling, and catching it on waistbands or other thing. Mines healed round about 4 weeks and I had it changed within 6 weeks. (but I heal freakishly fast with piercings)
I paid £30 for mines and loved it so much I got it done again and hopefully when I can be bothered and have more money i'll be going for another two.

I agree with what whiskey said. I was really surprised at how it actually felt to get mine pierced. I would liken it to punching a hole in something leather. It was a really odd feeling, but it didn't hurt. It was sore for a few days later, but that was about it. As for healing, it varies from person to person. A year after I got mine, it was still not healed entirely. After some googling, I used some triple antibiotic ointment on it and it was healed in about 2 days (after a year of it oozing random crap..grr).

Mine was like $50 to pierce. The other place in town was $30, but I was impatient and wanted it done.

LadyScarlet, pretty much said it all. I have had it done 3 times and they healed great, just make sure to clean it. A lot of places charge differently, it really depends on where you go. I would make sure it's a reputable place for sure.

Does it hurt a lot?
Mine hurt a bit, nothing terrible - it's a quick piercing, I just clenched my fists and made a face

How long does it take to fully heal?
It took mine 6 months to 'look' healed, but I believe it takes a bit longer than that to completely heal

How much does it cost on average to get it done?
It cost me 92$ Canadian But I had mine done with some blingy jewelry, I'd say between 60-75$ at a proper, clean piercing place

How hard is aftercare?
Pretty simpl in my opinion. Mix 1/4 tsp of sea salt with 1/2 cup warm water, bend over, stick the cup onto your belly button, sit back for 5-10 minutes, remove the gunkies with a q-tip, repeat a couple times a day

How long till you can change out the jewelry?
...eerrrr, between 6 - 8 months depending how fast of a healer you are

I'm overweight would that be a problem?
Not at all.

What would happen if I lost a lot of weight?
Nothing I'd think, you'd still have a bellybutton piercing - just with less weight
