Reading Lists

Is there a thread floating around on here for this? I'm always on the search for new books to read (horse and otherwise). Would love recommendations from others! So...what are some of the books you are reading or have read?

Are there any subjects you won't read? That's a big thing, since some of the books I like might not be something in which you'd be interested.

If you're into fiction, I definitely suggest the Harry Potter books, they're not as childish as they are portrayed.

Also, another good read was 13 reasons why, its about a girl who commited suicide and passed on these 13 tapes she recorded beforehand, I really loved it. :)

As for horsey books, there's always the original Black Beauty!

There is another thread out there (What are you reading?), but I believe that is the only other one out there.

I agree with SR. Knowing what kind of books helps with giving recommendations, especially if you are the type of person who (for example) adores thrillers but would snub a nose at a romance.

Recently, I read "The Lincoln Lawyer" after seeing the movie. The movie WAS actually pretty accurate, and didn't leave any major important things out, but the book was well written.

I've also read the "A Circuit" which is about (older) teenagers riding on the A circuit. Decently written...a definite upgrade from the Saddle Club/Pine Hollow and Thoroughbred series that I read when I was younger.

Books that are a little different that have been read...well, reread...lately has been "A Table In The Presence" and "Stolen Innocence". The first being about the Fighting Fifth Marines, and being the first into Iraq, and how God was with them. The second is about a girl who grew up in a polygamous sect of Mormons, and her life during living it....then escaping from it. Both are true stories.

Thirding, it'd help if you gave some help over it what do you like.

I read medical whodunits, for example authors like Tess Gerritsen, Michael Palmer and Robin Cook are good IMO.

I also read Paulo Coelho and some books that deal with veterinarian life. For example authors like James Herriot and Hugh Lasgarn.

As to horse-related or western-life related books, Nicholas Evans has written some pretty good books.

Vaikka myrsky hetkeksi tyyntyykin, varjo seuraa onneain.
Ja pian taas uusin hönkäyksin, varjo seuraa onneain.
Hei tuu mun luo, pieneksi hetkeksi. Puhutaan, varjoni, valkoiseksi enkeliksi."
