    Really Sad News :(

One of my best friends last night called me and told me that she really wanted to hang out with me today and said she was having some drama in her life. Of course I asked what kind of drama: guy drama? Work drama? Friend drama? Etc...She said it was guy drama. From what I knew last she wasn't seeing anyone so of course I was like, "You've been holding out on me here chicky!!! I didn't know you were dating again!?!" Anyways she said that they weren't dating at all. And that my mom may know about it... right then I was struck with realization, my mom works with assault cases... I was very angry but acted casual about it instead of OMG WHAT HAPPENED TO YOU. She didn't want to tell me over the phone but today when we hung out she told that this "guy" was a friend of a friend of hers that she was staying with. They were drinking and she had gotten really really drunk and yeah...as you can imagine it would have gone. This guy has been in prison she found out latter and is HIV positive!! I could kill him. AND EVEN STILL, this chick that was her "Best friend" down there told her that if she reports the assault she won't be friends with her anymore because "that would ruin HIS LIFE", just cause he has three kids. She got blood drawn today and has to wait I think 6-7 weeks for the test of HIV to show up.... and she "COULD HAVE RUINED HIS< HIS HIS LIFE??? If I ever met either of those two I'd be arrested for the beatings.... I can't believe this. She is one of the nicest people I've ever met, everyone that meets her loves her and he may have just destroyed her life medically. I had to vent I'm so mad right now, she's so scared about that test and just of what has happened to her. The proper autorities already know but she didn't come out with it till abot 2 weeks later, just kept it bottled up, her sisters managed to get her to report it. I took her out to lunch today and we went around the mall and just goofed around all day trying on stuff we could never afford, going to pet stores and playing with the kittens and puppies. I guess you can never really know anyone :(

Oh... That's very sad :(. I really hope your friend haven't got HIV. I don't know but I've heard that luckily there are good medicines to aids today and HIV -positive people could live a quite normal life for a long time.

It sounds like that is what you have been doing, but be there for her. It is going to take years for her to be able to talk about what happened or let alone move on with her life. Be there for her and don't push for information. Let her share things as she is ready to do so.
She is fortunate yo have a friend like you.
