NORTH CAROLINA DEPT. OF AGRICULTURE 2008 BEST DISH NOMINEES
Papa Mojo’s Roadhouse Nominated in Three Categories
Leave it to Papa Mojo himself to come up with three fantastic recipes featuring ingredients and produce from North Carolina. Chef Mel Melton has recently revamped the menu at his six month old restaurant, Papa Mojos Roadhouse, located in Southern Durham, or SoDu as Papa calls it. Melton's new menu features the three dishes that are among eight finalists in the North Carolina Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services' 2008 Best Dish in North Carolina competition. In the appetizer category, Chef Melton puts his mark on a classic dish, for his appetizer selection of Skillet Fried Oysters with Garlic Hot Sauce; Hickory Grilled Catfish topped with Crawfish Etouffee is featured as the main course, and to finish things up for dessert, Buttermilk Pie with Blackberry Sauce and Chantilly Cream. Is your mouth watering? If you haven't been to the "Roadhouse" yet, what are you waitin' for?
These dishes are being offered at a special price so come on down and sample them while you can! The Best Dish in North Carolina competition winners will be announced at the North Carolina State Fair in Raleigh this fall and the winning awards will be presented by celebrity chef, Bobby Flay.
Want to try your cooking skills with some of Papa Mojo's recipes? Check out the recipe section on the roadhouse website at www.papamojosroadhouse.com
The roadhouse is turning out to be "the" place for great music. You can expect a lively crowd, exceptional atmosphere and lots of smiling faces whenever you visit. Come for the food, stay for the show, you won't be disappointed. When you come on down, don't forget to look me up, Mama Mojo as I am now affectionately known. Just ask your server to point me out; I would love to meet you!

PAPA MOJO’S ROADHOUSE TAKES GRAND PRIZE
NC Dept. of Agriculture Announces 2008 Best Dish Winners
Chef Mel Melton, chef/owner of Durham’s Papa Mojo’s Roadhouse has been awarded the NC Dept. of Agriculture 2008 Best Dish grand prize in all three categories: Skillet Fried Oysters with Garlic Hot Sauce/appetizer, Grilled Catfish with Crawfish Etouffee/entree, and Buttermilk Pie with Blackberry Sauce and Chantilly Cream/dessert. Winners were announced on August 18, 2008 which is a fitting gift for Melton whose birthday is August 19th. Melton said, “I couldn’t have gotten a better birthday present. To be nominated in all three categories was exciting and to win all three is an exceptional honor. It will be a real pleasure to meet Bobby Flay at the NC State Fair in October when he will present the award during his show.”
Melton is quick to point out that the success of the six month old authentic Cajun restaurant in south Durham has been helped by his fantastic front of the house staff and kitchen crew, some whom have been with him since day one, and his loyal customers whom have found a little niche of Louisiana on Hwy 55.
Don’t miss your chance to try out the award winning dishes for yourself.
