Talking Sister Tattoo's

Both my older sister and I are adopted, we where put into different homes but over the 20 years have always stayed in touch and been close.

We have been through so much together in our adoption and growing up that I was thinking it would be really nice to get a tattoo to symbolize our strength, freedom, love and will to fight.

I have been looking through some pictures via google and pintrest.

I would love to have the infinity symbol be apart of it but also like the idea of a feather as we are native american from the Cherokee tribe on our mothers side. We have different fathers so this is also something that really is important.

So here are some photos I like, maybe combine a few ideas?
We both love color but I also like the simple black ink...

One of my favorites so far....words would be strength, love, maybe each others names?

Also really like this, the font and color. We both are very young at hea (and young in general) lol but this one made me think of my sister for sure!

I like the color and wonder about the placement of this one...
I know I don't want one on my foot...I hate my feet lol

Pretty darn cute, would add either our names or a meaningful word

This is very simple

Again would add words or names
I like the simplicity of this

Love this feather, so delicate

Advice, thoughts or anything is welcome here!
Feel free to post your tatto pictures too!

I love the infinity and feather idea. Maybe to get the color have the words and some color lines in the feather? My dad was adopted and knows little about his real family so I love this idea :).

Thank you, yeah I just talked to her and I think we will getting different ones but of things that symbolize our bond and such.

But yes I'm thinking getting the feather in the colors, maybe her name in with the feather and then the word strength on the inside of the infinity symbol.

I am 21 and will of course be paying for this myself...but my mom has always told me I am not allowed tattoo while living with her so tonight I am going to sit down and explain this to her and my strong feelings to have this done in the near future (within this 2013 year)

Other than the ones on the side of the road posing for tourists, Cherokee didnt wear feathers.
Tattoos are kinda trashy especially on girls. You'll regret them later. Putting them on or around your face isnt going to help you much in the working world. All fine and dandy while young, but can handicap you later in life. No idea what the future holds.

Thanks for not ring supportive.
If you read all of it you would have seen I'm not getting in my face I jut like the designs that I posted and I am 21 so am fully aware about employers and future jobs not being into tattoos.

This is a meaningful tattoo that I am thinking of getting cause of life events that have turned me into a great person and I want to do somthing about that and this is somthing that inked the sound of.

Yes many tattoos can be trashy if not done correctly or put on a good surface or well thought out.

Ill be doing my reaserch for where to get it done as needles can be scary and sanitation is really important and will be interviewing a few artists in my area and talking to many people who I trust and value their thoughts and advice on this matter.

It's not a tramp stramp, it's not a boyfriends name, it's nothing that will be regreated later as this is about my adoption 20 years ago and my sister and family.

The feather just is the meaning that I am part Native American not just my tribe but but a general peice.

I understand if you don't like tattos or don't like my idea but I wasn't really liking for a negitive side of this, concerns and worry about the artist and safety side of it yes. I'd like to learn more. But this is a meaningful thing for me to do and I felt like I could share this in a safe welcoming place so if you don't agre or like my idea of what's meaningful to me in my life that's great but don't tell me so on here
If you must just PM me with concerns

Thank you :)

Oooooooh Joe... spoken like a true "old folk"!!! I have nearly 10 tattoos and even have my lip pierced (which no one knows about at the office, of course) and I make nearly 6 figures... Doesn't seem to hinder my life one bit.
I love the colors in the feather behind the ear. It's incredible.

Thanks Oxer :)
This tattoo is going on my side on the ribs (going to be really painful I heard!)
This way it will be hidden unless I'm wearing a bikini or choose to show it off.
I am kind of playing with the idea of putting on my left side so it's closer to my heart :)

I have 3 and haven't regretted any. I've got a folder for inspiration on my phone, lol! I too want a side piece.

My tattoos are of significant life events and are all dear to my heart. It's part of my celebration/grieving process and I consider them badges of honour, markers of who I have become. I don't have them for anyone but myself.

Besides, I'd like to see if anyone looks good ~inked or not~ at 90.

I got my stomach tattooed a few years ago. It was the WORST pain in the world. It literally felt like he was tattooing into my hip bones. GAH!!! So since you're little, your ribs are going to kill. Take an ibuprofen beforehand!
