Being orignally from Iowa I had NO accent. My daughter grew up here in southern missouri. For christmas when she was 5 she was telling me what she wanted from Santa and she kept saying she wanted a box of crowns......??? I asked her like 10 times a box of crowns? Yea, yea she said....I was like ok? What is a box of crowns? For dressup? Like a princess wears? She looked at me like I was crazy and said NO MOM...CROWNS...TO COLOR WITH!!!

I just laughed and laughed!!! She wanted CRAYONS! She was becoming a little hillbilly! Hahaha...She also rode a schooo bus instead of a school bus.

Thank you! I grew up in Michigan. When I moved here I got ribbed a lot for calling it pop instead of soda. I still call it pop
    Lots of differences
I call the metal license on your car a plate here they call it a tag
What you put your grocerys in is a bag Kansans call it a sack
That's a I can think of at the moment.

To me it's a license plate and a bag!
Also there is the pronunciation of Sauna.
And water fountain vs. bubbler. My friend from Wisconsin calls it a bubbler...I just don't understand bubbler...

Same here! Lol bubbler? Also, its a backpack, not a book bag.

I've found that it is mainly people in Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, West Virginia, Kentucky and the western parts of Pennsylvania that call it pop. I'm sure people in other places do too, but these are the places I've found it most common. I visited around the New England area and noticed everyone calls it soda. I also lived in south east Florida for awhile and soda seemed to be the most common name. I haven't been out west but I noticed on the show Little People Big World, that takes place in Oregon, they call it soda. So I think it's a regional thing.
