Some People! (rant!)

Does anyone else have anyone that is frustrating them and they just want to rant about them? Go for it! I'm going to

I'll start with a certain group of horse people, as this is the horse forum.
A brain washed group that I used to enjoy going out on trail rides with for a nice relaxing ride until they got involved with a certain trainer. Now they ride yearlings and call the people who try to tell them why its wrong snobs.

They have a stud that the breeding isn't even 100% known. He is tall, long, big headed and of course has done nothing. But long backed horses are preferred don't you know, they can collect and turn better. The logic was that those big windmills, they look like they are turning/moving slow, but really, they are moving faster than little windmills in peoples yards. I didn't even know how to question that.

Several mares have been bred to him, ranging from the short, stocky sausage-like type QH to trains on giraffe legs. Of course they are hardly even ridable. No vet checks, no ultrasound, not even a clue when due and are being left out at pasture not being check on. I don't know if thats such a big deal, but I work at a breeding barn where all mares have due dates on their name tags around their neck and as soon as they start showing any signs (in the multiple day/night checks) they have monitors attached to their halters that pages a cell phone.

Bad horse care but no way no how can you try and help them out. Left a bunch of horses out in a barbed wire pasture all winter with no water and no hay and wondered why they kept running the fence. Snow=water and the grass 10 inches under the snow= sufficient food. They have an un-insulated, hardly water proof "barn" that they think having it full of horses will keep the water bucks thawed in the middle of -20 winters. Hoof care is non-existent. Rain rot, lice, thrush, worms, you name it, runs rampant. At least one horse that I know of has died from colic.
Horses have become so messed up in their training that some have become violently dangerous. Two that I know of have ended up at slaughter just for that reason. I'm bitter about this as one I used to ride with no problems and my own horse has been injured by their negligence. Twice. Once under their care was enough, but apparently in boarding situations you can't pick who you're pen neighbor is.

Any one else? Complain away, get it off your chest!

It feels good if your in a stressed out study break like I am

I hate when people constantly use the word Gay, for a synonym of stupid. Or when people use the word faggot on someone. People do it at my school all the time and I have gay friends and it's very offensive.

Those people should not even own horses. That is just horrible. I cant even believe that they would do something like that.
I really hate it when people find it necessary to throw golf balls at your horses just "because its funny". The last week my friend found about 20 golf balls in her paddock from people throwing them at her horse. ohhhhhh it really makes me cranky :S

I used to do that, easy to pick up when so many people use the word that way. I stopped when one night I met and was hanging out with this guy. He was the nicest guy ever and when I found out the next day that he was gay I felt terrible about how I was talking around him.
I apologized to him but he was cool with it because he was used to it.
It bothered me more than him that he had become numb to it.

And those people, they are just so good at getting the newbies in. Unlike most professionals, these people prefer that a newbie gets a youngster so they can learn with it.

Is your friend's horse okay? Golf balls hurt to get hit with.
My old neighbor's horse kept getting more and more skittish and wouldn't eat. Turns out his youngest son would sit outside and throw rocks at it because it wouldn't let him pet it.

I'd be pretty furious if golf balls were thrown at my horse. Luckily you can't really tell I have a horse from the road. At least it's not any worse, but golf balls hurt when You get hit by them. I hope the kids stop terrorizing it and I'd definitely keep an eye out.

Oh and diesel throwing the rocks at an animal for not letting it pet it sounds like something I would have done when I was a lot younger. I was a mean little kid, but I'm so glad I gained a love for animals. I feel like so much better of a person.

Which brings me to I also hate hate hate people who abuse and are cruel to animals.

Also when people think animals are stupid. Animals may not have the intellect as humans, but sometimes I believe animals are smarter than humans in common sense wise.

Adding to the above:
I hate when people say 'It's just a dumb animal.' That really bothers me. I always come back with 'Well, YOU'RE just a dumb animal, too, you just happen to have thumbs and the luxury of spoken communication.'

KatesRider: Kudos to you, and you're development as a person! Seriously. It seems that some people NEVER grow out of that stage and when they do, no one likes to admit that they ever went through that. I love and admire your honesty!

I could go on for hours about how much I hate people that, like Katesridier said, think animals are stupid, but I will just get angry, lol. But, what REALLY gets me is when people treat ME stupid because I love animals.

What do you DO with 5 dogs???!!!
What do you THINK I do with 5 dogs, moron? I am training them as a sled team. WTH? They're my PETS, they're rescues, they're special, most importantly, they're MINE. Until you start giving me money to cover food and vet bills, or mortgage payments or whatnot, don't WORRY about what I do with 5 dogs. And 4 cats. And 2 rabbits. And a horse. Shut up, you're an imbecile.

I really truly also hate as well, when people make not so veiled sexual comments about myself and my horse. How is it that THAT is what you think of when you think of girl + horse? It's freakin WEIRD and disgusting. And I'M the weird one for loving him so much, right?

I actually had to take a picture off my keychain at work, because one of the guys at work kept referring to it as my porn pose. Are you serious? It was me, in full winter garb, lying forward on my horse and hugging his neck after a particularly tough work out. Every time I look at the picture I am reminded of how hard we worked that day and the things we have had and still have to over come and it gives me a sense of pride, strength, love and confidence. To have someone demean it like that was really hurtful and upsetting. But, maybe I'm just sensitive.

In closing, I think I just don't like people. I'd rather be with four leggeds any day.

He knows when you're happy
He knows when you're comfortable
He knows when you're confident
And he always knows when you have carrots.

I get asked if Kate is my "Girlfriend" a lot in school. But I always let it slide cause I realize I'm much more mature than them.

Some people do have a lot of growing up to do.

I get really sick of the comments about girls who ride from certain types of guys. Its one thing when its my buddies that I know are just being idiots, completely different if I just started talking to the guy.

And I'm not sure what he meant by it, but one day I was walking into my apartment building after being at the barn. I was muddy, had cowboy boots on and wearing my plaid jacket. I passed three guys and one said to the others "now that is a girl you don't want to date".

And Dusty, my bf's mom gets the same questions all the time. She has 12(?) cats now. All fat, happy, spayed/neutered. Well, except for mama cat who started it all. She is missing something up stairs and just recently calmed down enough that you can catch her in a raccoon trap and she doesn't try to bash her head in. Just waiting until the latest batch of kittens are old enough to be alone and mama gets hauled to the vet.
And she is not a cat hoarder like some people say, she will give away kittens to a good home, so long as she doesn't become attached to them first.

I hate it when people say sexual things about me and my horses... like it's just creepy! Why would you be thinking of THAT?!?!

And this guy who sits infront of me keeps going on about how I have been reading the same magazine for a whole ......... week.... o...m...g.. a week.

Horses are scared of two things... Things that move and things that don't.

It sometimes take me an entire month to get through a month's Practical Horseman and process the whole thing! A week is nothing.

Like you guys, I don't like it when people are ignorant to animal loving. If I met Diesel's bf's mom I would say "Wow! 12 cats! That's a lot! How come so many?" and I would get an explanation. Not just 12CATSTHEREFOREYOUAREAHOARDER. I HAVE THE SMARTS IN MY BRAINS.

What's really starting to bother me is this one friend of mine. She makes fun of people all the time, but then gets really mad and upset if you make fun of her. (Oh yeah, and her explanation is that "I'm nice and don't make fun of people, so they should be nice back!") My friends joke around and make fun of me almost as much as, if not more than her about loads of things! They joked about how much I complained, so I decided to complain less because I didn't like the jokes. Lo and behold, they don't make fun of me for that. They go for other things that hurt less for me personally. I've talked to her about changing a few things so they will stop but she makes excuses and gets really angry. But this girl is getting on my last nerve. She needs to take a step back and take a good look at the WHOLE picture, not just the one her narrow mind sees. I want my best friend back!

That felt good.

The fool thinks he knows everything."
