Does anyone else have anyone that is frustrating them and they just want to rant about them? Go for it! I'm going to
I'll start with a certain group of horse people, as this is the horse forum.
A brain washed group that I used to enjoy going out on trail rides with for a nice relaxing ride until they got involved with a certain trainer. Now they ride yearlings and call the people who try to tell them why its wrong snobs.
They have a stud that the breeding isn't even 100% known. He is tall, long, big headed and of course has done nothing. But long backed horses are preferred don't you know, they can collect and turn better. The logic was that those big windmills, they look like they are turning/moving slow, but really, they are moving faster than little windmills in peoples yards. I didn't even know how to question that.
Several mares have been bred to him, ranging from the short, stocky sausage-like type QH to trains on giraffe legs. Of course they are hardly even ridable. No vet checks, no ultrasound, not even a clue when due and are being left out at pasture not being check on. I don't know if that's such a big deal, but I work at a breeding barn where all mares have due dates on their name tags around their neck and as soon as they start showing any signs (in the multiple day/night checks) they have monitors attached to their halters that pages a cell phone.
Bad horse care but no way no how can you try and help them out. Left a bunch of horses out in a barbed wire pasture all winter with no water and no hay and wondered why they kept running the fence. Snow=water and the grass 10 inches under the snow= sufficient food. They have an un-insulated, hardly water proof "barn" that they think having it full of horses will keep the water bucks thawed in the middle of -20 winters. Hoof care is non-existent. Rain rot, lice, thrush, worms, you name it, runs rampant. At least one horse that I know of has died from colic.
Horses have become so messed up in their training that some have become violently dangerous. Two that I know of have ended up at slaughter just for that reason. I'm bitter about this as one I used to ride with no problems and my own horse has been injured by their negligence. Twice. Once under their care was enough, but apparently in boarding situations you can't pick who you're pen neighbor is.
Any one else? Complain away, get it off your chest!
It feels good if your in a stressed out study break like I am
