someone please rip them out of my head...

My wisdom teeth are coming in, one in particular is growing into my cheek. GREAT. Today has been particularly bad, and all we had in the house was tylenol which does absolutely NOTHING. I've taken six today, and haven't been able to eat so now I feel like absolute crap and of course everything is closed so I can't go in... not to mention exams next week and the one after, so I don't want to be all drugged up for those. And now I finally have advil, which has always worked better for me, but I'm almost at the daily limit of tylenol already and am not sure I want to take anything else.

And now you guys get to listen to me (read me) rant.

Any miracle tips? I kind of just want to sleep, but I always end up lying on the side I'm all swollen on, even if I start off on my back or my other side. It just sucks. ):

Strong pain killers, about the only thing I have found to numb the pain of a tooth, enough that you can sleep anyways. Same thing when my wisdom teeth came in, they crowded the rest of my other teeth and abcessed, I had 2 days of it before the dentist would pull them, abcess had to be down first. He prescribed some good pain meds though. Relief!

Mom's abscessed too... and I'm really hoping mine don't because I am THE biggest baby when it comes to this kind of stuff... I think I'm going to wait as long as I can before taking any advil (I had two tylenol at 7:30 - 8:00...) and tea and bed. Great way to spend Easter break. ]:< Not to mention it makes writing papers that much harder (because like I said... huge baby )

Dad says he's going to call our dentist tomorrow, but I seriously doubt they'll take me even if they ARE open. Not sure it counts as an emergency unless it does abscess.

At least get some proper pain meds from the dentist (or doctor), you poor kid, I feel for you!

I was lucky and had mine surgically removed while I was knocked out for a different oral surgery procedure. I'm happy mine never had a chance to come in. Maybe laying your head down on and ice pack or heating pad?

Tylenol and Advil are completely separate drugs

Advil = Ibuprofen
Tylenol = Acetaminophen

You can take them at the same time. In cases of high fevers you dose with one and then before it wears off, dose with the other so that there isn't a wearing off period so the fever stays down. My kiddos are prone to Febrile Seizures so I am very familiar with pain/fever meds.

So take the Advil and don't worry about the fact you've already had a bunch of Tylenol today.

I'm just going to soak up all this sympathy here.
When my friend went to the dentist they just gave her advil... regular extra strength advil. I don't know, guess we'll have to see what mine says. Until then ice pack or heating pad is a good idea for sleeping. Not sure why I didn't think of that.

Thanks Delfina.
I was just worried because I've almost completely maxed myself out on tylenol, so I wasn't sure if that made a difference.

I have my wisdom teeth.. all four of them..at first they bothered me because I literally have no more room in my face for them-- now they are so friggin long they hide food and leave bad tastes in my mouth after I brush my teeth vigorously and rince with Listerine.

The good news is-- once they fully grown they don't hurt anymore they are just down right annoying!

I don't know if you're 'of age' but if you are-- nothing knocks out a tooth ache like good ol whiskey! That or you can put BC powder or the orajel works great. I hate that feeling of them in my mouth-- its like gum I can't spit out, lol.

And a numbing throat spray or orajel for your gums and cheek.
