Stage Collapse at Sugarland Concert

I am very thankful I didn't get tickets. The scaffolding & roof of the stage at the Indiana State Fairgrounds collapsed between sets at tonight's Sugarland concert and fell into the standing room only area. We had some bad storms roll through with 60+mph winds. There are rumors of multiple fatalities, dozens of critical injuries and people still trapped under the beams. Praying for those at the concert.

I saw it on the news... Someone was saying that they should of been warned, but I don't see how. It was a freak accident.

All the affected are in my thoughts.

I don't think they could have been warned either LoveStory. There was a thunderstorm watch but it wasn't in effect until 20 mintes after the collapse. The stage collapsed from a straight line wind gust that preceded the storm. Sugarland's manager was on stage 4 minutes before it happened telling people they would be postponing due to the weather coming in. I'm sure there will be a lot of questioning in the following days. They were discussing this morning about the beams not being able to handle the weight load of a big production.

There were 4 confirmed fatalities and a lot of folks injured, the youngest admitted to one of the hospitals was only 7 years old.
Very sad.

Holy cow . Incidents like that are horrible.

I wish sppedy recovery for everyone who got hurt. Hopefully there will be no more fatalities.

WOW!!! That's so sad and downright crazy! But then again I was at a hog roast near Indiana when the storm rolled through. It took one of the tents they had used to put the food under off the ground and three houses over before we could catch it. And it was staked into the ground. Tables, the fire pit, people's drinks...all of it started to blow away....and man was it sudden. Everything was peaceful and calm and then BAM the wind swept in and the sky got dark and everything started blowing away!

100% Anti-Slaughter and PROUD of it!

Latest update - 6 fatalities, 47 admitted to local hospitals. Very sad. They closed the fairground to the public today but did let officials and folks with livestock there in.

SUJ - That's hoosier weather for ya! It hit here about an hour before Indy, I was working horses. Sunny, calm & gorgeous and then the wind came from nowhere. My herd had a good romp when the wind picked up and the temp dropped.

They come on sudden like in Indiana. I'm originally from Indianapolis so I've been following this story close. Praying for the families involved.
