Yes, this is going to be long & Yes, I am going to be whiney!

Hubby & I took a week off work to camp. We're on private ground owned by a friend. It's a holiday weekend & everybody we know is camping here. Most of the husbands work together or are in similar fields of work. All of the wives (except me) all work in offices or are stay at home moms. All they talk about are clothes, makeup & their little book clubs. I have nothing in common to talk to these women about! When they do ask what I have been doing or where I went for 3 hours that morining & I try to tell them that I went to do barn chores, or talk about training with my donk or how well my son did at lesson that night, before I finish my sentence I get "Oh, that's nice" & they go back to talking about what great clothes sales they're going to.

I am ready to pull my hair out!

Buy an e-reader and get some books. Work on evening out your tan. Strut around and show off your fabulous self that's built up from riding. Dote on and spoil your husband. Focus on the good. Ignore the wives and next time maybe ask for a private vacation!

:) It does make me smile when I hear them talk about their diets & the $$ they spend on guy memberships. I ride, do barn chores, run my butt off at my factory job & can get by with eating what ever I want! I do have probably the most wonderful husband of the bunch. Most of the husbands ignore their wives & mine always coming over for hugs & kisses or will rub my shoulders while standing around & talking.

I'm betting you meant to type gym membership. That really made me laugh. Sometimes autocorrect is hilarious.

You have my sympathy. I hope this week passes quickly for you. It's sweet that you and your husband appreciate each other. Very nice to hear.

Why on earth would you go on a vacation from work with people you work with? Dang you see them all week all year. Last people in the world Id want to see on my off time.

I agree with Joe but take it one step farther, when I go camping the fewer people I see the better. Never ever go where I suspect more than a few others are camping.

I'd go camping with you if you were around here. We could talk horses all day!

I am now very sensitive to how much horse talk I can get into any group conversation before I hit "the wall". You know, where non-horsey people's eyes start to glaze over, they start to kind of shuffle their feet or look at their watches or pick their nails, or look off into the distances and have that, "ho-hum" look on their faces. I LIVE with that, from husband.

Oh, and how much is a guy membership? I was thinking of getting one.

Talk about clothes, makeup and book clubs would make me want to pull my hair out too! Maybe you can hang out with the guys, might have more in common with them? Hope you have lots of booz on hand.

I love these situations, because you can see just how wonderful your hubby is, and how grounded you are in comparison.

Also eating whatever and not worrying about it is awesome, isn't it?

Thank you everybody for the replys, I needed the laugh. Just goes to show I shouldn't post when I'm mad, I have a hard enough time spelling on a good day. Yes, there is lots of booze, passing the time playing with my kids on the sandbars, have my crochette bag with me & finally I got to go do set lines with the guys.
