Tax return money...still haven't gotten it?

I sent in my tax returns the first week of April and still haven't gotten my money. I have sent it in with my bank account info so it would be directly transferred into my bank account so I would get my money faster. Last year I got it in about 2-3 weeks but its been over a month and I still haven't gotten it. Should I just keep waiting or should I start to worry and call someone about it?

Could be delays caused by lots of people filing at the very last minute.
Did you use one of the software packages? They usually email you with progress. Do you know if it was even accepted?

Yep, the IRS and states made it very clear if you filed at the last minute to expect a month or two until you receive your refund. Even later if you paper filed.

I always file no later than March and use TurboTax. I generally get both refunds within a week.

Last couple of years it's not been unusual to have tax returns delayed on purpose. States and feds are trying to get the most out of your money before returning it.

They're also trying to discourage paper filing. They want everyone to file electronically.

One of them I did electronically and the other I did by paper because my internet was acting up so I had to send it in by mail.

I wish I would have done it sooner, I could really use the money right now...lol I've got to get new license plate stickers and buy my plane tickets, for myself and my dog, to go to cali next month! Plus I just went on a shopping binge and bought a ton of horsey stuff thinking I would have my tax return money back in time to save my ass from all the money I spent...lol

Ouch..counting chickens before they hatch has bitten more people that I care to think about. I hope it works out for you in the end and figure you could call and sit on hold for a couple days til they get to your call. IIRC, there is a site they have setup that you can go to, put in your SSN and find out if yours has been received and the status of it at this time, but I don't have it on me at this time.

Here's the official site to check your IRS return. Your state will have its own website:

http://www.irs.gov/Refunds/Where%27s...sy,-and-Secure.

I would definintely check up on it. There is a huge scam going on where scammer "file" your tax return for you and claim and receivce YOUR tax refund. So, when you file, the IRS thinks YOU are the scammer.

Check on it, for sure.
