Exactly! They really should bring back Home Ec in the schools. Too many young people are without the benefit of what they could've learned.

Well, something needs to be done.

If we all refused to buy Chinese products or Limited purchasing Chinese products, the parking lot at the unemployment office would be empty... why?, because Americans would be back to work making the products in America that people need.

While I agree to some extent the products would cost more, but if everyone is working and we are not borrowing 40% of every dollars the Federal Government spends, prices would even out, I believe.

I would gladly pay 10-20% more for an American Made Product if I could find it.

I needed two faucets as I am redoing some plumbing, I went to Ace Hardware, Lowes and Home Depot, after looking at over 100 faucets I never found one anyplace that was made in America, I even looked at the 200.00 ones, still the same, I ended up with a very nice faucet for 52.00 made in Mexico and one made in Canada... better than supporting China

Mountain out of a mole hill? Keep thinking that and one day we will all be speaking Chinese.

This is just one of a zillion examples of our problems, did you see the where a whole Bridge in California was purchased from a Chinese Company?

What I mean is that such examples as the bridge are what folks should be talking about, not the uniforms. They are pennies compared to the bridge.

Do you shop at Walmart? Target? Rite Aid? Do you wear Nikes? It's easy to point fingers at this very prominant example, but what is all around us is hundreds of times more relevant.

See post # 13

I go out of my way to "try" to buy Made in the USA

Sometimes it is impossible, in fact is is very hard to buy Made in the USA

I drive Fords, almost always have... and they never needed a bailout either

Walmart?
Not if I can help it, but I cannot always drive 40 miles to another store.

Target?
Nope

Rite Aid?
Nope

Nike?

They actually forced us to take Home Ec for three years in middle school. However, the focus of most students was to get the skills taught decently enough to earn a passing grade, not to remember skills that are valuable for life. I still remember some of the things taught, but I will admit that I am pretty foggy on how to hand-stitch something.

I don't know enough to form an opinion on Chinese made things versus things made in the U.S.A However, I think it's a shame that U.S.A athletes are wearing something made in China to the OLYMPICS! I would really rather that they would've gotten something made in the U.S.A, even if it had cost more (though at those prices...how is that even possible? Has fabric gone up that much while I wasn't looking?).

tiny, believe it or not, but I don't shop in those stores (I do buy drugs in CVS sometime, but I don't think they are made in China ). And when I shop for something specific (although I don't shop all that much except for food) most of the time I look at where the thing is made.

I'll gladly pay little more for something made in US rather than in China. In fact, the Nunn Finer (I've been advertising in "Tack" section of the forum all the time) always gets my voice partially because their products are "made in US" AND they are cheaper than imported ones.

In reply to an earlier post: my father works for a company that makes certain US Army vehicles... In South Africa! However, I believe its because we own the patent to that particular design, not because of a more sinister reason.
