Traveling Alaska?

Hey I was just wondering if anyone else on here has made their way up to Alaska? My hunny and I really would like to road trip up there next summer for 10-14 days. I have been up there but it was several several years ago. The only place I really got to go to was Soldotna and Clam Gulch. Which I really want to take him there but I was wondering if anyone has any really neat places they have been to up there that we should visit. Also I'm checking out places to stay or camp. He's worried about camping in a tent up there because of the bear and Moose. I can totally understand this fear but do wqe really need to be worried as long as we pack away anything that would attract a bear to the site? Thank you for reading and hopefully you can help out :)

Never been, but several friends went and loved it there. But yeah, I probably wouldn't go there in winter! :)

My husband and I went on an Alaskan cruise and eloped at the first port of call. LOVED it there. My non-horsey hubby was kind enough to humor me and we went on a horseback trail ride at one of the cities - saw a big bear on the trail fishing! The horses didn't flinch. Totally adored our entire time there and I still occasionally poke my hubby to move us there.

I was just thinking that driving the Alcan (Alaska-Canadian highway) next summer would be a worthy goal. THere are hotsprings up there to visit. That might be something to check into.

Alaska is beautiful place to visit. I live in the Yukon, :) its right beside Alaska. We do trips all the time into Alaska. Likes Haines for halibut and crab fishing. Theres a small city called Skagway that has a ferry that goes into Juneau and you can see Orcas and other marine creatures.

There's also a drive you can do that starts in Dawson City, Yukon and it's called top of the world highway. And you go through some amazing places and end up in Chicken Alaska, Tok Alaska and you can head up to Fairbanks.

Its a lot of fun ! Hopefully you guys go and enjoy it :)
