love turkey hunting! opening day this year I killed a decent 3yr old bird, 9" beard and 3/4" spurs. I took my fiancee out last weekend and called him in a old bird, 10" beard and 1 1/2" spurs. sucker weight almost 25lbs. There is a bigger one but only 4 mature birds on the property , we took two so I'm leaving the other two to breed. hopefully I can find the bigget one in the fall season.

Awesome! Nice birds! Ive been hunting turkeys for like 10 Years and i finally got my first or should i say my first 2 turkeys last year! I got lucky and got 2 birds with one shot. Wellll......... it was kinda illegal but it was an accident!! both birds got tagged and called in on different days so we made it kinda legal, but dad wouldnt let me take pics with both birds And i would put a pic of just one but i cant find it..... if i find it later i will put it on here. They both were jakes and had only 6" beards and little spurs, but they were my first birds!!!!!! But Ive been hooked on it ever since!

Turkey hunting is my favorite. However I didn't even set foot in the woods this year. Ended up driving to Montana during the good part of the season to help my in laws. Hopefully I'll get up to Pa for the fall season there. Congrats to the turkey slayers.

ff, turkey hunting is the best, I like deer and small game as well, but nothing beats going after the big birds. hope you get to go during fall. Our fall season isn't that good, they just dont respond to anything, you have to be in se place at same time, luck of the draw.

Pa's fall season is similar. I cover a lot of ground and usually do ok finding them. It's also fun because of all the small game that is in. The best day I've ever had in the woods was a fall turkey day.
I set up before daybreak and lucky me I set up right under a bunch of roosted birds. Killed a bird before 8 o'clock. Went back to camp and swapped chokes and shells and went small game. Came back for lunch with 2 ruffed grouse and a fox squirrel. Headed out with my buddy after lunch just to call for him. ( no shotgun) . Had one come in but he missed. He got mad and went back to camp. So I went back grabbed my shotgun again and went rabbit hunting. I got one and missed one. If I had planned things out right I would have taken my bow and set in a tree stand in the evening. it's one of those days I'll never repeat and never forget. Of course I did loose my butt on the poker table thT night . Maybe it was all the celebratory drinks I had.

Lucky you FF. Our spring squirrel just opened a few days ago. Of course today I'm off work and its raining. The good thing about fall turkey is we can shoot hens, so if its clucks or purs its meat in the freezer. I only saw birds once last fall season, a bunch of hens, but they were about 65 yards and I didn't feel comfortable with that shot. hopefully I can get some squirrel this weekend!

Good luck squirrel huntin! And we can shoot hens during fall to and spring if its a bearded hen, which is fun to see every once and a while. We didnt get our second birds, and the birds werent even gobbling the second week. But before i got my longbeard my dad liked to see how close he could get the hens and he got them practically in our laps! It was awesome but i could practically hear them breathing thats how close they were! It was an adrenaline rush thats forsure!
