My mom and I have a 1997 Chrysler Cirrus. It is a nice car and fun to drive. I just got my license a couple weeks ago and it has been so much easier to be able to drive myself to work instead of relying on my family.
However last Monday the car died at the post office. It would turn over but not fire. It has similar problems when going through puddles. It just dies out and will start again in about 15 minutes. However this time there were no puddles and it did not start. We towed it to my bosses' place and left it there. 4 days later we were going to put it on a flat bed to tow it. I had tried starting it several times over the past days and nothing happened. However that day we were going to tow it, it started up fine.
I drove it home. Against my better judgement, with my family's encouragement I drove it to work and town. Today it died again. This time at the library! Now we have to tow the stupid thing and that will be expensive!
This time I'm putting my foot down. Even if it DOES start again I am NOT driving it ANYMORE!!!! It make me nervous to drive and I think my uncle thinks I'm nuts to drive it. So I'm listening to him from now on! We are going to get a used car that will be reliable.
There is no used taking the car it to get fixed. My aunts that had it before have taken it in and it made no difference. I've heard bad things about a lot of Chryslers. One person took the car multiple times to the mechanic and replaced everything imaginable and the car still broke down all the time.
So we are looking! I've been looking at some Hyundais, Pontiac Sunfire's, Toyotas, etc. Any great suggestions for cars? We want something on the smaller side, good on gas and RELIABLE!!!
Sorry for the rant! I'm a little frustated as I can't really afford this, but oh well, that's life I guess! I think we will try to sell the Chrysler for parts and get some money out of it.
