vacation help

I want to go on a vacation... within driving distance (although I'll fly if tickets are cheap enough). I wouldn't mind a beach or a river access... I was thinking about a rental house, although I'm open to a tent. I have absolutely no idea of what to do...

Areas of interest are VA, SC, GA, or FL. If I knew where to go in the Shenendoahs I'd look into that... Any suggestions?

Not looking to spend tons of money... want to bring our bikes and do some hiking... canoeing or kayaking...stuff like that.

Being Canadian and living at the opposite end of the globe from yea, I honestly don't know BUT I did do some research online(I am the official queen of the internet by the way).
Here is something I found. I don't know what your interests are so I am sending the main link.
Florida attractions, Central Florida travel, Orlando, Kissimmee, South Florida, North Florida, beaches, hotels, vacation, tourist, maps

I might suggest swimming with dolphins. Just came back from doing that and it was the most amazing experience I have ever had.

Good Luck!

We rented a cabin at Shenandoah Outfitters in 2006. It was fairly affordable and you can rent kayaks and stuff. The cabins are RIGHT on the river. It was nice.

M2G I know what you mean about the dolphins! I've done it twice now and can't get enough. I would love to go to discovery cove but it's so much $$$....

Goldilockz I think I might be looking at the same things you are talking about...

Shenandoah Activities | shenandoah National Park | National Park Reservations

So you had fun doing that?

I had a lot of fun. It's a nice, quiet area to just chill and relax, or do activities. We went in April so it was too cold to kayak or do anything on the river, but I would imagine it's a blast in the hot summer months.

This is where we stayed:

39th year Shenandoah River Outfitters - Canoe, kayak, raft & tube , river cabin rentals, Luray VA

The cabin on the far right was the one we stayed in LOL!
