Watcha doing to get ready for hurricane Irene?

Well, she's heading for us. I am trying to decide what to do with my 9 chickens as my coop may not be very weather secure. I will be bringing in all outdoor furniture tomorrow, if her course stays on us.

    What are YOU doing?

I was actually just sitting here staring off into space thinking about it. I need to run to tractor supply and get pineshavings. I need to fill out all my water troughs and tubs. I was going to go school supply shopping this weekend but I'll have to do it earlier or later.

I need the essentials from the grocery store... What should I do with my pig?

Wait... there is a hurricane too? Seems we are getting all the fun... Maybe I should watch TV every once in a while...

I'm in NY so I don't have to worry, but I wish all people who may be hit with the hurricane the best!

Out here in the country where it gets pitch black at night and you live on well water, making sure we have enough food, water, batteries, and gasoline and that the chain saw starts easily are about the most important things.

Luckily we're on the fringe...very gloomy and having about 35 mph gusts with rain bands. Not enough to keep the mares from their morning graze in the front pasture, though. Hope everyone closer to the coast is doing ok.

In times like these I am grateful to be landlocked here in the hoosier state. Sending up a prayer for all of you in Irene's path.

I'm in VA about 200 miles from the coast, so we're only getting some wind and bands of rain. Not enough to cause any real damage, but my satellite is going in and out, so it's making it difficult to watch TV. Poor me!

Prayers and good thoughts to all of you in Irene's path. Hoping that all of the precautions and evacuations were unnecessary, and Irene takes a turn out to sea.
