Well, that'll suck the life right out of ya.....

I am just absolutely dumbstruck right now. Just found out that I'll be out of a job come June 15th This literally comes out of nowhere. They are telling me that it is only temporary and that I will be hired back when our winter program starts again (probably September) - but considering I had no idea this was coming (literally, just in the last week had been asked to take on several projects/things that require work during the months I no longer have a job - which gave me a sense of security in being here during that time), who knows what will really happen.
I can't bring myself to call my husband and tell him - this is the last thing we need right now. Things have been tight, beyond tight, as it is. I keep trying to convince myself it'll be nice to spend the summer at home with the kids and that unemployment will patch the holes, but I just don't know if that's true or if it will be enough to scrape by.
The funny part is - out of all of this, I felt the worst for my boss. She cried and I didn't because I was so worried about how she felt.......what's up with that. Of course, she is out now and I am sitting here bawling.....
My mind is an absolute wreck right now..............

Oh mac...soooo sorry. It could be ok to be home with the kids tho, seriosly. I have no idea how old they are, but could be a good thing for all of you. Are they 100% sure they will hire back though? That would be what I would be concerned with if it were me......you certainly know them better than the rest of us here. Anyway-this, too will pass.......

I'm very sorry... Hugs go to you! Just be strong and try not to put more stress on yourself thinking it over and over. The sun always comes after the rain, so I'm sure something will come up soon!

That absolutely sucks, Mac. I'm unsure how the whole unemployment thing works, but can you get a part time job if money starts getting too tight without losing your unemployment pay?

Always remember that feeling of looking at a big, open country over the ears of a good horse, seeing a new trail unwind ahead of you, and that ever-spectacular view from the top of the ridge!!! Follow my training blog: http://robertsontraining.blogspot.com/

Bummer. It looks like the maximum unemployment payments in Indianna are $390/week. Whatever you get I hope you can get by OK. Sorry that had to happen...

Thanks all......the shock has started to wear off and I'm in a better place with it all today......
Im putting no serious stock in the stock in the rehire thing just yet.....will be thrilled if it happens but have to keep other options open at the same time. I really hope it works out because I truly love my job and the people I work with.....which is hard to find sometimes. I'll be talking with the exec. Dir. After the holiday so hopefully will have some better idea of just exactly what is happening.

I'm sending prayers and good vibes your way, you'll pull through this but I know it won't be an easy task.

If you go looking for work, I hope you find a great job :)

I'm sorry that you were laid off, hopefully it doesn't put too much stress on the family. Sometimes setbacks like this allow us the opportunity to step forward in a different direction, may be time for a re-evaluation of career plan.
