What camera?

G'day

Im getting into photography and for Christmas I asked for some sort of digital camera as I have only got a film SLR and the film might be sitting there for months intill I actually go to print them out. I was just woundering what camera I should get....I can't spend more then $300 so a SLR is out of the list but I still want good pictures. I was thinking about a Sony Cypershot. So what camera do you think would be good? Just so you no Im into taking pictures of animals and when we go to car shows I also take pictures then.

I happen to really like my Nikon Coolpix s550

I also have a D70s..It's a DSLR. Im not sure how much those are selling used..you should look into it though.

Just had a look on a review site about the D70s and there a bit out of my price range. I think I will have to save up for that one :P The Coolpix looks alright so I will into it, and see if I can get a cheap second hand one.

I have the Canon Powershot and I really like it, but it runs on AA batteries and the way I take pics I literally go through 4 batts a week, and that's a good week. Make sure you get one that has a rechargeable li-ion battery, IMO. They also have cameras now that have instant pic taking ability, so no annoying digital camera delay. I have a DSLR as well and love that its just like my old cameras.

I saw one of the cameras I think it was the Sony Cypershot had the instant picture taking which would be good. So I have to rounded down to the Sony Cypershot or the Canon Powershot. Thanks for the help guys!

Anything Canon is the way to go. Kodak has a few cute ones that are easy to use and produce fantastic photos. EBay would be an excellent place to get a higher end camera in your price range, just make sure you get it new. My first digital camera was a 600.00 Kodak which I got for 270 including shipping. One of the best cameras I've owned.

Yeah I have been looking at ebay and I also found a Cypershot at Target for quite a reasonable price, and showed my Mum that so I guess I will have to wait and see.
