This was given to me and I can't ask the giver until tomorrow. I just need to know tonight! It's soft. Not squishy and juicy - just soft. Ideas?

I dunno... that was a thought I had as well. I've never seen a purple one though and why would someone give me just one yam? What am I supposed to do with just one yam, if that's what it is?

I thought it was something that I am supposed to eat on its own. :? Especially since she also gave me an orange. Yes, the giver is an older lady and very sweet.

I agree. Purple yam. Some people eat yams like others eat baked potatoes. My mom can't have regular potatoes, so she makes herself a baked yam when we have baked potatoes.

My mom wraps hers in tin foil and bakes it for all of 20 minutes. She makes hers while she's making baked potatoes for the rest of us and cooking the rest of the dinner.

Or, you can pop it in the microwave, hit the "baked potato" button and let it do its thing.

Holy yams cowboy! Those are massive!

They are EXTREMELY good for you! Do you drink smoothies? Your yam cut up with pineapple, yogurt, spinach, and a bit of banana would be delish!

I don't think its a potato. I do think its a yam and that it was cooked. Purple potatoes are not as deep purple as this. The center has that crumbly appearance of cooked yams. Yuk. Ew. Gross.

Sorry, guys - I really have no intention of tasting it. I might see if I can find someone else who will. Today, I completely forgot to ask the person that gave it to me.

 If she asks how you liked it, what you goneing to say?

DDDDlisious. or :hide: . at first I was going to say a beet, but those don't have the whiter circles in them

I'm the same way, tiny.

Used to hate avocados, mushrooms, cheese of any kind, eggs that weren't poached on toast or scrambled...I'm sure there's more.

Now, I love all those things. I even like Brussel sprouts.

Definitely not a beet. That I would have known.

What will I tell her? I will tell her "Thank you. It was very nice of you to think of me." I'm pretty good at avoiding direct questions when necessary. :)

Funny, my tastes haven't changed much at all since I was a child. Trying to think of anything I disliked then and like now... can't think of anything. Nor the other way around. It's true though - for most people their tastes change with age.
