Who would you ride and why?

It's about 4degrees F today and I don't feel like going to work. One of the perks of being self employed!
So out riding we have some stupid discussions (and there are many) But one of the fun ones is: If you could ride any horse that ever lived, who would it be?
The most common answer is Trigger for obvious reasons. There are so many other options.
The horse named after the man "Morgan". The man named for his horse "Tashunka Witko". We know him as Crazy Horse, but his horse was magnificent. Man of War was fast and huge. Hildalgo (which actually means elk dog, not big dog). Secretariat, Three bars, Impressive, The list goes on and on.
So after many years of this topic I've came to my conclusion: Mr. Ed from the old t.v. show. He's kind of a smart ass but a better conversationalist than some of the people I've been riding with. I talk to my horses out solo a lot but all they ever say is thththth. I'm not really sure what that means. It could be anything from get off me, to let's go home who knows. With Mr. Ed it would be much more clear. And sometimes he had some good insight to life.
So if you could ride any horse of all time who would it be and why?

Hidalgo means nobleman in Spanish. I don't know where you got elk dog or big dog.

I vote for Justin Morgan, great idea!

That's a tough question.. I don't follow a bunch of racing/ show jumping/ olympics so most of those horses are unknowns for me.. I would bet a bunch of Racing Fans would love to ride American Pharoah though

I did not know that. In the movie They say the Navaho word for horse is Hildalgo. Meaning big dog. I wonder if the Navaho adopted the word from the Spanish or vice versa? Either way the "noble" part works.

In Navajo, dog is " łchąąʼ" and don't ask me to pronounce it. Big is "tsoh" or something like that.

I think that movie took a lot of liberties with reality. Still a fun watch.

The answer can fast and easy for me. Secretariat.

Although I think American Pharoah is a great horse with a tremendous smooth stride there are other race horses that would come first for me.
From the days gone by category Citation and Whirlaway. John Henry. Fast forward to more recent what it must have felt like on Tiznow in 2001 Breeders Cup when he dug deep and found more at the wire. On Holy Bull with Concern charging up behind and Durkin yelling in the mic He is as game as a race horse can be. On Serena's Song when she lowered her head to cut a hole in the wind.

Cigar and Point Given because I love them so

For tv horses- Silver. Buck from Gunsmoke. Even would like Ruth

For famous- Traveller

Bling.

I am not taking her death well. She was everything I ever strived for in a horse - Mare, color, size, her style. Watching her run made me look at my horses with more pride. She was so incredibly unique. So though she was not mine, I have had a hard time watching such a unique and inspirational horse pass with so many people who loved her.

My barrel horses are different than other peoples barrel horses and that is why I loved her. I wanted more Blings, and less of everything else. But, it is life.

If I ever could choose to swing a leg over that mare, and feel how she was to run, I'd die happy.

Pssh.I didn't pick up the wrong lead
It's called a counter canter...
...A very advanced maneuver.

^ Holy crap that speed! Loved watching the video, gorgeous mare.

Horrible that she was only ten. I just read her owner's post on Facebook and it brought tears to my eyes - how devastated she must be.

I would have to say Secretariat - especially in the Belmont. Can't even imagine what that would have felt like! Just the power....would have felt like flying I imagine.
