This is why I love Arizona.

Last weekend a storm blew through Arizona that put snow on the mountains in Apache Junction. My husband was dying to take a scenic drive, so we packed up the family and the in-laws, and headed out. We took a route that should have taken about 3 hours but ended up taking us 7, due to a snow fall that no one seemed to be able to drive in causing multiple traffic jams in the dark. We had decided to use the in-laws 4 wheel drive truck because at least half the drive was dirt road through the mountains, so we were completely fine in the snow.

I wanted to share these pictures to show just how beautiful Arizona really is.

I know it was just gorgeous. Did you guys go down the lakes? Canyon and Apache lakes are part of the reason why I moved out here.

So in lies the madness, the pursuit of the impossible in the face of the complete assurance that you will fail, and yet still you chase.

Beautiful! I took a couple of pics of our snowfall here. Sunday after church (around 1pm) we had almost two feet on the ground in our backyard. We got another 6-8" overnight. Snapped a pic of my dog trying to get my friend's lab mix to play with him in the snow (BTW, the tree that is leaning over in the pic is usually upright).

Such lovely scenery! I miss the desert country. I live where it's always green and wet. So, to me the desert is exotic. Nice pictures.

Yeah, we followed it completely around and came back through Superior.

I didn't realize you got that much snow. I wish I had made it that far North this year.

Thank you. Whenever I find myself getting bored of Arizona it only takes one of these drives.

There are a few more pictures. For some reason I couldn't post them with the rest, it kept telling me I had a duplicate post, but here they are.

I didn't go home for almost three days because of the snow. Went to my parents' house Sunday after church (after not making it into my driveway...have pics of the snow piled up against my tire from where I didn't an almost complete 180 trying to get into the driveway) and didn't come home until Tuesday night. Of course, by then the snow was half gone. Lol On my way to work Monday morning (I was only one of six people to even show up for work, out of 27!), I couldn't see more than 50 feet in front of me because it was snowing so hard (this was coming out of Chino going into Prescott). By the time I got home from work eight hours later, the snow was probably 95% gone and there was green coming up in the fields. *facepalm* Gotta love AZ's bi-polar weather. It's supposed to be 76F here on Friday.

Yes, Arizona is lovely. I think I need more thermals, & the house definetely needs some more insulation.
