It was supposed to be out-patient (just arthoscopic), but my insurance doesn't really cover out-patient surgery and I would have had to fork over $1500 up front
to have it done at the out-patient surgical center...and I wasn't told about it until Tuesday.
So, my amazing doctor squeezed me in at the hospital last minute yesterday.
I was super tired and cranky yesterday after the surgery, which is why my update was so short. I woke up from surgery extremely nauseated and no amount of three different nausea meds could keep me from throwing up. Not a happy feeling...especially not when your throat is all raw from the tube they put down your throat. I was starving when I got home and my dad (who didn't come with us) had prepared this amazing
pork and rice dish that he just made up as he went (marinated the pork in asian sesame and ginger salad dressing mixed with strawberry preserves and BBQ'ed it, then put it over a bed of fried rice [the kind from a box] and baked), but I was too tired to eat more than a few bites of rice and my throat was too raw to swallow the meat.
This morning, however, I feel great! No pain (yet...I'm taking a half a Percocet when it starts to hurt...only a half because I hate
the way Percocet makes me feel...would have preferred Vicodan, but such is life). They did a block on my shoulder (basically an epidural for my shoulder), so my arm was literally dead all last night, but feeling is almost all the way back now. My throat is still a little raw, but I had bacon and Cream of Wheat for breakfast this morning (that my dad made...my mom is in bed sick
). May have over-eaten a smidge, but I'll live. Lol
Can't wait to see the pics the doctor took of all that was going on in there and see that bone chip and find out exactly where it came from. I start physical therapy on Monday, too.
