Your Christmas Day and Traditions

So what is you day like?

We open some presents in the morning with the children, have a yummy breakfast and then I usually whizz out for a Christmas hack with friends.

Early evening my brother and family join us and have our Christmas meal in the evening and open the rest of the presents just before the pudding Then we have a traditional game of charades.

What do you all do?

Usually we let each other sleep in, then make dinner in the oven so it's ready for us to eat AFTER we've addressed what's under the tree (if anything)

This year, I'll be having two Christmases and spending some of it in an airport.. I'll eat with my new family and then go and see my horse in the barn (it's been 10 months!!)

Usually, I am in California for the holidays. In the morning the immediate family opens gifts.
My father has a large, wealthy family. So we all get together in the early afternoon, have a HUGE dinner in the early evening, and we open gifts. After that is the best part: we play cards. They are all big gamblers, and it is awesome. Nothing better than making a little money.

But... this year, because of my leetle accident, I am unable to travel. So I'm here in CO with my mother who has travelled here to take care of me while I can't walk. We'll be spending Christmas with my best friend and her family. (:

We go to my parents on Christmas eve for dinner and gifts and then in the morning we open more gifts and then head back to my parents for more food and probably some scrabble....

Green Broke
This year we are home for Christmas Eve, but I have to go to town to get some groceries. Tomorrow we go to DH's brothers'-early, as the men folks have a project to work on. Then a meal, gift exchange, & the drive home. The day after is a horse day for me! And we'll take down the decorations after New Years'.

Christmas Eve is the big thing for us, so my sisters and their hubbies come over for a traditional polish dinner, we go to evening mass, and then eat desert/open some gifts/crack the Christmas poppers at midnight. Christmas day my sisters go to their in laws, so my parents and I make a turkey and occasionally we'll invite some relatives if they aren't celebrating elsewhere.

Our big traditions are usually getting ready for the holidays though. My sisters come over and we make polish pierogies for Christmas Eve, and then we decorate our gazillion batches of gingerbread cookies.

I forgot a tradition - we always play board games with the children after we've finished wrapping presents on Christmas Eve

We will open gifts tonight (Christmas Eve) at my parents and have dinner. My family, and my 90 year old grandmother will spend the night at my parents so when we wake up in the morning Santa will have came and we will open his gifts
Our youngest is 15 but it's a tradition that will last forever. We will also have a huge breakfast for anyone that shows up.

Usually when all of us siblings were here, here was our tradition.
Christmas eve, make cookies and decoration ginerbread men or houses and then before we go to bed we open one present.
It's always been a tradition to have new PJ's as our christmas eve present, so we always try to guess what it is going to be! Kittens, horses, scotty dogs, insects, etc.

Then christmas morning we eat breakfast then we take turns playing "santa"
Who ever is "santa" they go and get a give for everyone. Then we each take turns opening each give and watching each other open it.
Once that is done we clean up the paper and play games and watch movies. Then before our big dinner we put all out christmas stuff in our rooms.
The next day we write thank you notes if we got gifts from family and send them off. Then it's kinda over because my siblings had to go to their step-mom's house. And I am the only kid who doesn't have four parents, so I jsut stay home and do whatever.
This year all my sibligns are gradutated, and I am the only one who has presents this year because I can't drive and my parent's are jsut ordering what they want for christmas online.
But yea, it has bee pretty fun!
