I know EXACTLY what you mean about no depth of culture or history in fantasy book, pintophile! It drives me up the wall! My novel was like that at first (mainly because it started out as a "short story" and I didn't expect to need any history or anything lol), but I've been working on making it more in-depth and believable.
Do not tell me I can't...because I will show you that I can.

Awww so many writers! I used to write a lot before i got so frustrated with my own writing that I stopped. I did some fanfiction on Phantom of the Opera when I was in Middle School...then I ended up writing some books of my own, none finished sadly. I work occasionally on a large one but I'm have a 4+ year writers block on it. I loved the idea and I have plots going through my head but just blanks.....

Want to know the story? From The Start? It is a work in progress.
The $25 horse I didn't want.

I have a couple I'm working on in the story's section just to see if people maybe think I might be good enough to publish. I have one that I haven't shared because that's the one I would try to get published...

I write - I have two/three stories that are just in the character/world design stage. I've just been doing little shorts about the different characters, making maps, etc.
I'm also hoping to do a bit of fanfiction sometime.
I've had a few teachers commenting on my writing and saying that I should enter comps and basically try and get published, but I'm not sure... XD I get writer's block a LOT! lol

Maeras, one of my friend's once said "Writer's block is when your characters get tired of all the crap you put them through and go on strike." If that's true, my characters must LOATHE me!

Yeah, funny until you go back to try writing on that story again and you just sit there staring at it for hours on end...or getting distracted by HF. lol

I wanted to let you know I saw the Man From Snowy River. It was good! Two questions. Why was the "mob" of wild horses called Bromblies? And why does a horse with a broken leg have to be put down? Why can't the leg be splinted?
On writing: I belong to a novel writer's group which I formed out of a local writing group (I invited four novelists to join together to meet and critique). Perhaps a writing group would help. I agree about Twilight (I prefer Ann Rice and love the Underworld movies). One of my group writers writes about Danaan Fairies in human form. I'm reading Game of Thrones historical fantasy, but my writing is historical. Keep writing!! <g> Cinzia

Let's list all my begun novels:

(NOTE, I am only 19, all these ones started like in 2003 and such, obviously I was a tiny baby)

The Warning: started in 2003, supposed to be a Goosebumps type thing, actually a lot based on a book I can't for the life of me remember what it was called

Queen Bee: 2006, inspired by Mean Girls and the Clique books by Lisi Harrison

Siren: 2005, the one I think has the most potential, about a female pirate

Call Ended: 2006, a thriller about a high school girl and murders, inspired by Fear Street books, also by RL Stine haha

Lady Crystal: 2005, a lot inspired by the Tamora Pierce girl warrior books (Siren too I guess), the longest by far, almost 100 pages, but reads childish, so it would require a lot of rewrites. About a princess whose sister gets kidnapped and held for ransom.

Cooking with Carey: 2006, in the vein in Mary Higgins Clark adult mysteries, about a cooking show host who gets murdered, and her sister tries to solve the case

Guilt Trip: 2004, about an Outdoor Ed field trip that we all had to take in middle school, what I thought would be cool at outdoor ed. Despite me being a baby when I wrote this I like it a lot.

As you can see, most of my stories are written to imitate an author that I particularly enjoyed at the time. Hey, they say write what you like, don't they??

I would really like to finish one of them, most likely Carey or Siren, because I think they have the most potential. That should be my goal since I tore my ACL and can't ride for months.

Most of these are up on, if anyone should like to read them.
