There are lots of patterns (enough to boggle the mind) at:
Knitting Pattern Central - Free, Online Knitting Patterns - Beginner Knitting Instructions - Knitting Tips, Tricks, Testimonials and More!
Crochet Pattern Central - Directory of Free, Online Crochet Patterns by Category
Also, if you go to the wesites of the yarn makers, like Bernat, Lion Brand, Red Heart, etc... there are usually hundreds if not thousands of patterns to be found.

I have knit a sweater but preferred to crochet. My mother's fingers were always busy with knitting needles in the evening. She could knit, read a magazine and watch tv at the same time and never take a mis-stitch. When on a long drive she knit a heavy sweater for my 3 yr old nephew, 1/2 of it before we reached our destination, and finished it by the time we got home.

Mum always knitted all our sweaters for us. As she aged so she couldn't take the weight of larger ones because of arthritis in her thumbs so, she knitted baby layettes. Absolutely beautiful. Unfortunately over the last few years her sight has demonised and her dementia worse so, I have found masses of started projects! I have put them all in plastic containers and a couple of drawers!
We had to laugh when she knitted a hat for my nephew and it was awful, full of holes from dropped stitches. A few days later she picked it up and examined it and told my sister that she (sister) had done a very poor job!
I will have to sort through it all one day.

I'm a knitter. I learned a few years ago. I haven't made anything fancy so far -- mostly just scarves. I'm making w moss stitch baby blanket right now for my niece's new baby. She arrived two months ago, so I really no to g it finished!

I can knit, but I am not very good at it! I knit somebody a scarf for their birthday once. That was my best one.

I'm currently knitting two different blankets. I got size fifty knitting needles! And I'm using two strands of chunky yarn. It takes up a lot of yarn, but goes SUPER fast. It's fantastic.

I crochet and am teaching myself to knit. At the moment I am making my sister a scarf for her birthday, but I am about to start working on Christmas presents for 5 people so that should keep me busy for awhile. :)

Thank you. I love the colors too, the ball of yarn was multi-colored.
