    Any other Firefighters?

I just joined a volunteer fire department in October. I just got out of class and I am now certified. My husband is also a firefighter. We love it a lot! I've only met one other person who loves and riders horses and is also a firefighter.

My husband is a career firefighter, 18 years in a municipal department as well as assistant chief of the local volunteers for years
He is also a paramedic, an EMT and teaches for the local fire academy and offshore company.

    Trained
I volunteered once for five minutes... Dragging those hoses around was too much for me! LOL
So I made lunch and brought drinks for them instead, while they tried to save my house (which they did!).

Yup, 15 years on a large city department in NC. 4 years volunteer service before I got hired on. I also work part time on a small combo department and serve my local volunteer dept. I also do some teaching however since we bought our land and have the horses and our two girls the teaching has gone by the wayside a bit. Just not enough hours . I got promoted to driver 2 years ago and am working on my degree so I can start trying for capt. When I'm done. When I retire in 15 years or so I'll have right about 35 years service. I still love the job like the day I started.

Wanted to join my local fire department several years ago but had second thoughts when it came to climbing the ladder on the ladder truck. The darn thing goes way...way up there....and I couldn't stomach climbing the darn thing. So.... I opted to being a medic instead...have all the adrenline rush without the fear of falling of some ladder.

#13 is probably my favorite lol. Or #1. I never got to be the rookie because I practically grew up at the house and my dad worked there with me lol

Oh you were the rookie at some point. It was probably earlier than alot of others had to deal with it though.
