Canon Powershot SX30 IS

we just bought this camera for 399. it's 14.1 MP and a 35x zoom

whats your take on it? any good? any pictures taken with yours so i can get an idea of how good of a photo is really takes? zoomed all the way in or not.

It's a very good camera. All Canons are great cameras. Play with the settings and just keep taking pictures. You'll learn quickly all the things you can do with it.

sx10> sx30 :)

The biggest problem I've found with the SX series, is if it is zoomed too far, the photo is very pixely before you even take it... They are neat little point and shoots though, and should serve any serious amateur purpose you have for very little cost!

Whatever course you decide upon, there is always someone to tell you that you are wrong. There are always difficulties arising which tempt you to believe that your critics are right. To map out a course of action and follow it to an end requires courage.

yeah i noticed it does get a little grainy, but still FAR better then any i've taken before. the moon shots on the photo of the day thread were zoomed all the way in and were still pretty great, though not perfect but way better then my 12x zoom 7 megapixel nikon lol
