I'm not actually much of a gamer, but I sometimes play. My current favourite is the Half-Life series, I was a bit late to pick up on it as it's a bit old now (even though the final installment was never made and I'm not sure if it ever will be, which would be a shame for such an amazing series). It's a first-person shooter about a theoretical physicist who gets caught up in a failed experiment that opens a gateway to an alien dimension, leading to a series of events that results in an alien invasion of Earth.
I just got Elder Scrolls: Skyrim on an impulse buy. I'm not an impulse buyer but I'm really glad I bought this one. I've never played an Elder Scrolls game before, it's been a lot of fun so far but I'm still near the beginning. It's a single-player non-linear RPG from what I can tell. I chose a female Argonian (lizard-like humanoid), she doesn't look very pretty being a reptile with scales, horns and all but she doesn't care either and she's tough and courageous, doing good deeds for the most part and never stealing.
I also play Minecraft a lot, a block-building sandbox game. In survival mode you collect items from the environment and craft new ones. You go from being empty-handed to building tools, houses, mines and even railways. You can build almost anything you want.
These are pretty mainstream games that most gamers know about already, I'm not much of a gamer so that's the games I tend to hear about. What about you, what type of gamer are you?
