A co-worker/friend of mine is a huge dancer. And I mean the fancy kind, not the typical club bump and grind. So yesterday at work, she asked me to go to a dancing lesson at the local grange and I figured its only $5 so why not? Plus, Dirty Dancing is one of my favorite movies.
I've always wanted to take lessons, it's always looked like fun and who doesn't want to be able to do all those fancy steps? I've always held back because of money, time, fear of embarrassing myself, and no one to go with. Now that I have someone, I really hope I can do more of it. My friend can teach quite a bit of it [cha cha, salsa, etc] which helps. The lesson last night was the waltz, and I had SO MUCH FUN.
For the most part, it was really easy to relate it to horses. You have the lead [typically the man] and you follow. It is the lead's job to guide you, not run you into anyone, and as the instructor kept saying, "to make her look amazing," lol. The whole thing has a very chivalrous atmosphere, and for the most part, if you get confused about where to go, you can blame your lead for not guiding you better, haha.
So anyways. I kind of learned to waltz last night, and did a little cha cha and west coast, and it was incredible. My friend can teach me more, she knows where to go for lessons and whatnot, and I'm so excited! So does anyone here know how to dance? Or wanted to learn? Share your experiences!
