I heard something on the radio yesterday that puts a different spin on thinking that hunting or fishing are sports. It went something like "Whatever you are trying to catch does not know that it's participating, so it can't be considered a sport." We got a chuckle from it.
Definitely an interesting spin. Ya know, I'm not sure. I definitely consider the hunting we do with our dogs sport because of the training aspect that it requires. Fishing, maybe not so much ;)
I do both and I consider hunting a sport. Fishing, unless you are deep sea fishing, is more or less a leisure activity. I guarantee that anyone who decided to come climb these mtns with me, would consider it a sport. Also, I would completely argue with the idea that game animals don't know they are participating. Why else would they try and get away?
If you think your hunting or fishing is a sport, then it is.
If you consider it a hobby, then it's a hobby to you.
Different perspectives give people different ideas on things (: xx
Hunting and fishing to me is as much of as sport as walking the dog or playing fetch or trail riding, its a good leisure activity but not so much a sport. Jmo
