I found it helps to have a few German beers first. The lesons get easier after that, I picked up some words and can usually decipher some text. I gave up on the grammar and never really worried about it. Simply no rhyme or reason to it, Just what sounds best is what they pick. But it all sounds like someone coughing up a loogey, So not sure what best is.

I can speak horsey German, teach riding in German, after that... nothing! If you ever need a hand, ask :)

And Kiviknon, why? I live in Germany, not my choice, because my father's posting is out here. So is it 'douche' that the army sent us out here, or 'douche' that the German's want us to learn their language rather than us attempt it? Sorry, I just found that a really bizzare comment lol!
Well that changes things if you're in Germany. Since you're there you should have made an effort to learn it in the first place. I became a really good speaker when we were at Mainz

I was just asking about your comment, because I didn't understand it at all..

I can speak German, my family is German. I wouldn't say I'm fluent however, but I get on! Its a frustrating language to learn, grammar is my worst! And I can't talk on the phone, I stammer!

Ich wohnte in Deutschland für 6 jahre. (I'm slightly rusty...lol)

I used to speak it fluently. Went to a German Gymnasium and most of my friends were German. But when I moved back to Finland, I stopped using it and it disappeared. I still study it at school and do well and I have a major exam in it in a few months.
I always had/have trouble with der/die/das and in/im, etc. I just suck at grammar.

Guten Abend liebe Mitglieder hier im Forum,

For me German is my mother tongue because I'm from germany and I learned English at school. I think it is very helpful to learn the vocabularies to answer posts..
So I can help you if you have problem with german!

Schönen Abend noch und Frohe Weihnachten!
