I do spend a ton of time, before I start a new map, using a map program to find a world I find perfect. Usually, it includes a lot of islands. I go through hundreds of seeds before I find one I like!

I use a lot of the mods, which make it extra fun and often more challenging!
What map program do you use???

ADMIST is the program I use. You can find more information and where to download it here.

One of my biggest pet peeves is when a stronghold shows up underwater. So that is another thing I make sure doesn't happen before I start a world, hah!

I love ADMIST, very helpful in finding mushroom biomes, strongholds, nether fortresses, ect... I also usually look around a lot before choosing a world to build in, im very picky with location, have to have a desert nearby, a plains, a jungle and a village. I usually build in the flat areas of an extreme hills biome, usually near a river or body of water. I once built one of my houses on the top of a mountain :)

For those who play alone how do you keep from loosing ur home? I play by myself and when I go adventuring I loose track of where I built my house.. Any ideas? Single player doesnt seem to have a /home or /spawn command like multiplayer does

Making a compass is incredibly useful, and something I always make before I go wandering!

Also, ADMIST helps too, since I know where I've settled on that map.

I usually take a screen shot with my coords up at home, once I remember to anyway. I am pretty good at remembering which way I have gone though, although sometimes I do get lost.

That would be cool! Also look up mult minecraft. You can pic the version of minecraft you want to play. Nd you can have sevral "instances" of minecraft wth diferent mods so you don't have to worry about mods killing your minecraft. And it installs the mods for you. You pic the forge you want to use and it automaticly will install it. Then there is a menu for mods you want 9you have to download them). You don't even hae to unzip the files. Just salect them and it installs it for you. So no deleting meta_inf or anything. I have mo creatures and my own persenal mod calections of differet instances. So far my favorite horse mod is simply horses. I like the draft horses an the wagons .
