Photo Editing

Anyone else really into photo editing? Since I got my Canon about a year ago, I've been really into photo editing, and I feel that I've gotten pretty good at it.

What kind of software does everyone use?
Anyone have any pictures they'd like to post?
Does anyone have any tips or tricks they'd like to share?

It seems the more I do it, the better I get at it (much like everything else). We just had our family pictures taken on Sunday, and I have been editing them myself, I am becoming more and more pleased with my skills. It's something I feel that every photographer, amateur or professional, should be able to do; even if it is just the basics.

I'm excited to see what everyone can bring to this thread!

I've learned that the details matter the most. And sometimes a little goes a long ways.

I personally use Picnik. The link in my siggy shows some of my free-time work. Most of it is just edits for some folks who like lotsa color. I like color, but like I said. A little goes a long way.

I stay away from fancy borders, although I like text. And text is a very challenging thing to bring into a photo. You can ruin a photo if it is not perfect or not in the exact spot.

I adore overlay (text that blends in with any background colors) although my pet peeves are when I get the perfect color, but you can't read it. Yuck!

I'm an ok photographer, but I don't have the wonderfullest place to take good photos. I like taking horse pictures. They are easy to me :)

The moon, on the other hand, always seems close to impossible :/

You should post some of your work!

I do editings occasionally. I use PhotoFiltre and really recommend it . It's free, easy to use and do all the basics that I need.

Here are some of mine:

Että koskaan en ole yksin, varjo seuraa onneain.
Vaikka myrsky hetkeksi tyyntyykin, varjo seuraa onneain.
Ja pian taas uusin hönkäyksin, varjo seuraa onneain.
Hei tuu mun luo, pieneksi hetkeksi. Puhutaan, varjoni, valkoiseksi enkeliksi."

Wow! Great work!

Here are two photos I have done recently.

Here is a photo of myself. Here I was working softening the skin. I have added eye liner, and brightened the eyes.

This is an older photo, taken with my older camera. I have worked with the lighting and over all tonality of the photo, and obviously have removed the eye sore that is the gate.

And of course the watermark is mine. I'll add more a little later.

Everyone could be better! With a bit of practice you will be. I enjoy doing it probably more than I enjoy taking the actual pictures. The one thing that has always stuck with me is: don't be afraid to mess up! When I edit I keep like 3 copies of the picture; the original, the edited version; the shrunk version - that way I will always have something to go back to if I don't like what I've done.

For someone to do edits for you? I did an edit for someone here who had just lost a horse. I put a pair of wings on the horse ... It looked pretty cool. Imma have to find that now. lol
