The camera you pick really would have to do with what you want to take photos of, unless you go with a DSLR and buy lenses, those are really diverse.
Here are a few with my Cannon powershot sx30 IS
It is a handy, and very diverse point and shoot camera, or technically its a bridge between P&S and DSLR
those just show you the diversity of the little bridge camera,
And then my Nikon D200, I haven't really had long enough to get as awesome as shots as the ones i've been able to capture with my bridge camera
I have used both my 1100D and the D3100 (my dad's got one) and both are good cameras. If it was me I would go for the canon as IMO its easier to use and it feels nicer. Not an awful lot of difference in quality though. If I were you, try them out and see which one you like more .
Thanks for all your answers and advice it is much appreciated I'm going to go compare prices and read up a bit more on them I'm leaning towards the cannon so hopefully in 2 weeks time ill have a nice shiney new (or reasonably new) camera. Posted via Mobile Device
Finally got my new camera ordered it's a cannon 1100d with an 18-55mm is lens and I think a tamron 75-300mm lens in all it cost me a total of £350 personally I thought it was a reasonable price. I was going to get a pre-owned one however the ones I found on ebay and amazon never seemed cheaper by much.
I feel a little selfish buying myself something a bit costly so near christmas however I keep justifying it by telling myself I only have a few more gifts left to get.
