Share Your Poetry!

I thought it'd be cool to have a place to share your poetry! You can read and offer feedback or critique (if the writer ASKS for it) on the poems or simply just share.

I'll go first. Something light to get us started.

Poetry's Way By: Mariah Glidden (AKA Lonestar22 or LS)

driven by forces
somewhat unknown.
pressing the mind,
an emotion roams.
put into words
by the tip of a pen.
an outlet for stress
and beauty within.
poetry comes
however it pleases.
reality slips,
and peace seises.

Now something with a bit of emotion.

Toy Box By: Mariah Glidden

you looked at me one day
and liked what you saw,
but you didnt want risk
no connections at all.
just something to play with
pull out of a box.
tug on my strings
then give me a toss.
I was a toy.
just fun for you.
no harm done,
well, none that you knew.
with each tug on my strings
you tugged on my heart.
tearing it more
until it ripped apart.
once you came callin,
but I wasnt around.
you searched and searched;
I was no where to be found.
for a moment you grieved.
a childs toy missing.
but, open that box
and another toy you'll be kissing.

Okay, I have one I wrote a few months ago... It was after a family member passed away.

This world is a place of sorrow,
A place of pain, death and tears
But we must always hope for a better tomorrow
To get through the years

Live life to its fullest
Dont let despair drag you down
In everything thing you do try your hardest
To help you get around

Never give up
move on with your life
Indeed, your sorrow may not stop abrupt
But life is to short to let sorrow cause you strife

Very nice Gallop On. I find that I can only really write when I have have something really bothering my emotionally. I have to be in the "mood" so to speak. Which is why if you read my poems you'd think I was some depressed lunatic. Lol. I really only write when I'm sad. It helps me sort things out and get over whatever is bothering me.

Great poems so far :)

Here's one, feedback/critique welcome;;

Wishing Upon a Dream

I had another
Dream about
You.
We were together
Again, and so,
So happy.
I miss that.
I truly felt
Like I had
Finally found
Home.
Remember all of
The shared laughter
And corny jokes?
Without those,
And without you,
I feel so
Alone.
But now, I'm
wide awake. Reality
Forces me to
Question, do you
Miss me, too?
Honestly, I don't
Think you
Do.

Here is one I wrote a long time ago.

The Stallion

He stood upon the rocky crag,
With nostrils flaring wide
And gazed upon the herd below
His eyes betrayed his pride.

And then he saw not far away
Ten riders on a hill
All muscles tensed, all heard looked up
And every heart stood still.

Upon the herd the rider swept
To drive them to a gap
That just beyond the hunters knew
They'd built a hidden trap.

Upon the hill the stallion spied
His captured herd depart
Each passing moment,vengeance grew
Until it filled his heart.

Then every eye turned to the king
Up to that noble sire
The anger in his eyes did flash
Like burning coals of fire.

With lifted head he reared and pawed
His challenge to the night
With flashing hooves he wheeled and turned
And disappeared from sight.

This dare the men could not refuse
They knew the chase was on
And up above the reddened sky
Announced the coming dawn.

Four days did pass and every hour
The quarry they pursued
The mighty steed did wan and tire
He could not stop for food.

Till gasping he could run no more
His will he would not bend
His spirit always would remain
Unbroken to the end.

Before him lay a deep ravine
No bridge across it spanned
Behind the riders closed on him
He would not wear their brand.

Without a backwards glance he leaped
Defiance to his foe
His handsome twisting body spun
Down to the rocks below.

They say that on a starry night
A shadow will appear
And if you listen carefully
Faint hoof beats you might hear.

And for those coffee addicts....

Where is my COFFEE ?

I roll out of bed in a heap.
It's too early, I'm half asleep.
The brain is fuzzy, the hair askew.
Where is the coffee I need the brew !

A mirror glanced, I do not care,
To see the image reflected there.
Gack ! Can that truly be me !
Oh please! Where is my COFFEE !

My stomach's turning I feel sick,
I'm shaking for my morning fix.
I'm so bad I have to pee !
Oh please where is my COFFEE!

At last I see my favourite spot.
I'm dreaming of my coffee hot.
The cupboard's bare it cannot be !
My Lord there's no COFFEE !!
