I want a tattoo, but I heard they are allooooooooottttttttt of pain
Morgan, they can hurt yes, and often times that is why they appeal to so many people. They are an addiction. I got my first one when I was 17, I was scared it was going to hurt, and it did ... But only for awhile.
In all honesty it depends on where you put the tattoo on your body. Some say that the top of the foot is the most painful place to put a tattoo, I have one there, and it was a walk in the park for me; I wouldn't think twice about getting another in that spot. The one that hurt the most for me was the tattoo I have on the small of my back. I actually had to take pain killers to be able to sit out the rest of the session. Luckily enough I knew the person tattoo'ing me, I don't think any respectful tattoo professional would allow a client to do that.
My advice for anyone who wants to get one, but hasn't yet: don't fear the pain, it's not as bad as you honestly think, and GET SOMETHING THAT MEANS SOMETHING TO YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I can't stress the later enough. I have a few tattoo's I just picked out of a book because they looked 'cool'. I'll tell you what ........ The tattoo's that I have that actually have a meaning behind them mean the world to me, I regret the others, and will probably cover them up.
Also, often times having a tattoo covered, or retouched hurts MORE than the initial tattoo'ing. Almost a week ago I got one of my most beloved tattoo's touched up, and it hurt MORE the second time around than it did the first, and I got it in a spot where they don't generally hurt. It's pictured below.
Moral of my story: I'm all for tatoo's, but try and find something that has meaning to you. You'll be happier with it down the road, and you'll be more eager to show it off. IMG_5912.jpg
P.S. My tattoo is at the top of my shoulder, and the picture was taken a day after the touch up, so it still looks a little angry.
