Here is another question. How did you decide on your tattoos? I keep looking, changing my mind, looking some more, changing my mind. Nothing has popped out as..omg that's the one! I keep waiting for it...but its just not there. I mean, I see lots of really nice ones I wouldn't mind having but I can't find one that I absolutely LOVE.

I've got 2 spider ones that I like but neither are very feminine and when I play around with colors I get ADD and start looking for other options. Argh..

I'm trying to find ones that have meaning to me..such as the spiders, horses and such but I just can't seem to find one that I want enough to go through the pain of getting it.

If you are unsure what to get either
    A) wait until you do- My first symbolizes to me my troubled teen hood, lots of drinking, partying, promiscuity etc.... the second one is for when I was diagnosed with Cervical Cancer, they are both relevant to my life. But I plan to get some just because I like them, like I am hoping to get a calla lily on my other foot for my birthday...no real significance other than I think it is pretty... There does not have to be a deep meaning, some people just want to decorate their body, pick what speaks to you and about you. I think if you picked a tarantula(you have one right) and took it to the artist, they could make it feminine or craft it into what you want, you don't have to do it by yourself.

    B) Just got to the shop and talk to the artist. It is their job to help you decide and figure out what you want. They will not push you into it, this is their work, what they make a living off of, their name card, if you say you don't like it or that you were pushed into it by the artist, there so their sales and reputation.

So this is basically the tattoo I want. I'm kinda playing around with color ideas, and options on making it a bit more feminine. I do like it the way it looks though. Not the usual chick tattoo but its the only spider I've found that I really like. :)

Do you mind if I take a crack at tweaking it for you? I used to design tattoos for my friends in high school but I haven' had a chance to work on something for anyone in awhile.

I think it is very feminine. Do you tan or anything? If not you could make the tips of the legs(the feet thingys) hot pink(or purple or something girly)! But if you tan a lot the uv rays will fade and break up the color so I wouldn't even try a lighter color. You could even do it tiedye starting in the middle and radiating out in girly colors...

I usually don't tan too much. I am trying to get one this summer though! But I also figure I'll do all my tanning before getting the tattoo since I have to keep it covered for a month after getting it.

SURE! Anyone who wants to give tweeking it a shot is more than welcome! :)

Here is my suggestion to you, something that was given to me, used and realized that I was not going to get it done.

Find what it is you think you would want for design and hold onto it for a couple months. See if your thoughts about it are still as strong, you can also find a place that does henna designs(or even a friend), and get it drawn out.

As painful as some tattoos can be, or how expensive they are, those 2 things are definitely achievable, as per the posts above. What you need to worry about, as posted, is whether or not you are willing to have a tattoo done PERMANENTLY. They need to be touched up regularly(every few years), they will stretch and distort(I work in a hospital so I have seen some EVERYWHERE, so I know they -ALL- stretch).

Having said all this, to some people a tattoo means a lot and they can be very meaningful.

Find yourself the design you want and hang onto it and make sure you still like it in a few months time, then if you do then look into getting it done, but I would definitely think about it a lot before getting it done.

Oh I realize that. I'm not going to get it until June so if I still want by then, I'll get it. I've wanted a spider tattoo since I was 18 and that's the first one I've found that I really like.
I also realize that I most likely wont be as into spiders as I once was when I hit 30 or 40 but they were still a big part of my life. They were the reason I could afford to keep Samson for so long, I met a very special person in my life because of them and they helped me pay my way through part of college. :) They will always have some sort of meaning to me.

The tattoo itself will be located mid thigh, below my hip. Unless I gained A LOT of weight, it shouldn't distort toooo much. It will also keep it out of the sun for the most part so hopefully the colors will last. If I keep it black, it wont fade as quickly as other colors. I do realize it will need to be touched up though. :)

Im glad you already have something that means so much, that you have liked for some time now. That's excellent! It sounds you've got a really neat part of your life that you are going to be reflecting. Good for you.
As for the tattoo, the tattoo changing as to do with your skin tonne and composure changing as you age, not weight gain(though that will affect to if there is a significant change).

Keep us posted if you decide to go ahead
