Biotin for Horses

Hi,

This is a great question. It can be hard to decide which biotin supplement is best for your horses, and it is a question I am sure we all care a great deal about.

I personally use Kauffman's Biotin 240 with Methionine, and it works fantastically. I just give my horse a scoop a day and have noticed dramatic results.

Happy riding!~

I started feeding Horseshoers Secret about a year ago and have seen a huge improvement in my horse's hooves.

Gracie has been on the Horseshoers Secret for 4.5 months now. That coupled with a grain change(switched to Strategy gx) she grows hoof a lot faster.

Also I started her and another horse using Keratex Hoof Hardener. It is pricey but it doesn't have to be applied everyday which is nice. On Gracie we are still nailing to pre supplement hoof wall, and with using the Keratex her shoes have been staying on. Also been using it on Stilts who has baby sliders on the back and barefoot in the front. He chips less between his trims. Worth the $$ in my opinion.

I DON'T LEAD 'EM AND FEED 'EM, I RIDE 'EM AND SLIDE 'EM.

Interesting thread.

My new horse has problems with chipping front hooves. I'm taking them to the farrier tonight and going to get my farrier's opinion on a hoof supplement.

Ideally, I'd like to keep him barefoot, so we will see!

It is not enough to know how to ride; one must know how to fall.

Dry Desert = split cracking hooves

We live in the dry hot desert, my horses are all barefoot and hoof cracking and splitting is hard to avoid.

I have found Omega Horse Shine powdered flax supplement + Shur Hoof pelleted supplemment + Horseshoers Secret or RainMaker topical hoof treatment to be the perfect combination.

This is about 4 weeks after a trim and 8 months on the above supplements:

The above combo has really kept all my barefoot horses doing great. I do use hoof boots on their front hooves when I trail ride, as we have rocky terrain.
