Wow, it's hard to get an objective idea from but one pic of dubious angle, but I'd say the crack could be the least of his worries. It looks like his hoof is so contracted it's actually cylindrical, or maybe even broader at the coronary border than it is below! If you check out the link in my signature for info on taking good hoof pics for critique, you'd be able to give us a better idea, for more specific & accurate advice.

Interested to know how old he is, how long he' been shod, how frequently he gets hooves attended & how long since last go?

He's four year's old, he's been shoed sence he was two, at least that's what the owner told me. He usually get them done every three months but it was last october that he got them don't but the shoer is comeing next weekend
