I never did get a pair of boots at the Royal...didn't ever find a pair in the right size.

For those who have tried different brands/styles, it appears to me that based on the hoof conformation of my lease horse...not every style will actually fit. I have to get a new measurement this weekend as I'm not 100% confident in my original measurement, but it appears that (based on what I have) that some style boots will fit, but others are simply unsuitable - one size is good in the width but not in the length, and the next size either side is the opposite.

Option B is speaking to his owner about getting him shod instead - I'd be willing to pay the cost, and he's used pretty lightly so I'm sure they would prove durable. My only concern there is that he likely has very typical thin walled TB hooves that I've heard/read can be problematic to shoe. Again, I'll talk to his owner, I'm sure she'll have some insight.

^Care to tell measurements, use, etc? Yes, certain styles are inappropriate for certain hoof types and the main criteria for which boots are those that fit your horse, but while a snug fit all round is best, most of them are reasonably adjustable & there is some leeway for 'imperfect fit'

Went up today, did a little flatwork in the ring and then went out for what was supposed to be a hack. Unfortunately the grader had just done the roads and they were covered in stones - poor Simon was so ouchy that we didn't get far. I feel bad riding him this way as he's clearly uncomfortable. We bailed after about 5 minutes and headed back...my daughter wasn't feeling terribly well regardless so it was OK in the end.

I measured him again today and come up consistently with 135mmx135mm. I've got a lead on a pair of almost new size 7 Easyboot G2's, but these appear to be one of the boots that's unlikely to fit his hoof style - it shows 135-140 for width, but 140-145 for length...so the length would probably be sloppy and end up chafing. Argh.
