Hoof Tenderness help please?
My horse is barefoot, great feet. But on Thursday he was shod and we think she cut them a little too short. My trainer rode him Friday morning and said he was fine and I rode him in the late evening and he felt a little stiff. When I got off he had heat on all four of his hooves so I put an ice boot on the worst leg (I only have one front leg boot :/ talk about under prepared) This morning I brought him out again for a lesson and he was even more tender, it is especially bad on harder ground. I'm giving him the day off and hand walking him tomorrow to check for more tenderness. So far I have given him a gram of bute, iced his two front legs and rinsed cold water over all legs. I am wondering if there is anything else I can do, and how long it will last, what I should and shouldn't do etc. I am particularly concerned because he is trailering out on Thursday for a dressage clinic and he could be jumping on Wednesday. I am probably going to cancel his jumping clinic. I need advice on recovery time etc please help?
