Lost a front shoe

My horse is out at night and in during the day because its so hot during the day, and this evening after I came home from work I went to pick his feet out and saw he was missing a front shoe. Should I pull the other shoe or wait till my farrier comes out on the 8th?

Thanks guys

I would call the farrier and see if he could come out tomorrow and do the shoes early. My main riding horse will chip her feet up in our rocky pastures if I leave her loose on those rare occasions that she throws a shoe. If I can't get the farrier out, I put her in the barn. I don't pull the other shoe.

Ok I am calling him in the morning to see if he can come. Thank you

Green Broke
In my pasture, even though it's not rocky, that'll get ya a diaper and duct tape on your foot and a call to the farrier. Have one like that right now.

Good plan. Then you'll be in good shape for the weekend.

Front shoes I duct tape back on & call the farrier, he comes asap. If it's a back shoe, I pull the other one, but I still call the farrier.

One last question for you guys. Have you ever used renegade boots? When I got my horse he didn't have shoes and I wasn't planning on getting him any, but my dad insisted on getting him shoed and now its like I have had nothing but issues with losing shoes. Any thoughts will be appreciated.

Haven't personally had experience with Renegades, but heard lots of good reports. Had lots of experience with various Easy Care boots & do think they're usually a better option to metal rims.

Love Renegades but they do best on a foot that is already healthy. They arent the best boot for rehabbing problem feet. High heels, long toes, flaring etc.

Cmurdock...have you ever come up to Cook Forest to trail ride?
