@loosie, thanks for your reply. I do know how to take off her shoe and gladly would have done it but the farrier requested I leave it so he can see what is happening. She did it just this morning and it has not moved since. She doesn't move around much at night and since he is coming at 7am tomorrow, I am following the farriers request.

I plan to talk to him again tomorrow about possibly going barefoot. As far as boots.. I do hunter/jumpers and I could be wrong, but I have never heard of hoof boots being in a hunter ring.

So perhaps you could set a precedent, or if they're not allowed & your horse cannot cope bare in the ring, keep him bare/booted for the majority of the time & shoe just for comps?

I don't know what type of showing you do, but eventing allows hoof boots for the first 6 months after pulling shoes to allow a horse to transition to barefoot. It may be on a case by case basis, but you might not be totally out of luck there. If you show on grass, you probably won't even need boots. My horse is already 100% on grass, so 3 of our events are already a non issue since even the dressage tests are on grass.

You just have to see your distance...you don't have to like it.

Oh duh, it says you do hunters. Not sure what the rules are in that discipline. The must have rule book, no?
