I've had my TB for over 2 years now, she had fronts when I got her but I had my farrier pull them and she never had any issues. Anyway today I noticed she blew an abscess out the middle of her hoof on her back left. I couldn't get pics because I had my son with me but it's just a small area pretty much dead center of the hoof. She's not the slightest bit off on it but she's never had an abscess before and I'm a bit worried there is a problem. I've always heard abscesses drain from the point of least resistance, usually the coronary band or sole, so could it indicate a problem where it drained?
The farrier is scheduled to come out on Friday afternoon(she gets done every 6 weeks) but I e-mailed her to ask if she should be seen sooner. In the mean time I'm turning to you guys
So should I be worried or is an abscess just something that happens every so often?
