My horse has been exhibiting soreness in first her rear leg (which we attributed to poor saddle fit, so now I am riding in a different saddle that fits) and now she's sore in her two front legs! I have no idea what it is. I pick and clean her feet before I ride and after. I wash them out every Saturday then turn her out into a grassy dry field to graze and let her feet dry.
A little back story: I raised this mare, had an olympic trainer break her right (slow and steady), then when I had a baby and lost my job I sold her. That was 2 years ago. I recently bought her back (about 6 weeks ago) after her previous owner could no longer take care of her. She was in some grizzly conditions with hay only and no grain. She was sooo skinny when I got her, and now she is finally putting on weight.
She is barefoot, but was trimmed two weeks ago by a new farrier. Attached are pics of her two front feet. When I touch her feet, she flinches a bit when I touch around the outer rim. Also her hooves feel soft and her frog is peeling on both hooves.
Thanks so much in advance!
